Am I too late to join in?

Would love to be debt free by DH's birthday in February. Have picked his birthday cos there's no way we'd be able to do it by mine in November and also our mortgage needs renegotiating in Feb next year so really don't want to have any debt hanging round by then.
I won't be able to do much for the next few weeks as I'm on maternity leave but will be getting my first proper pay packet at the end of July so will be really picking up steam then.
Have just worked out our debt total and it's a shocking 7550.92!!:eek:
Will update my sig later when I haven't got any children/babies trying to get my attention!

    Evening all!

Hopeful34 - don't give up!! There is no shame in just changing the date you want to be debt-free by. I am going to be struggling to be debt-free by 30 (My original aim) at the rate I'm going now, but I like having something to aim for. As long as I don't miss too badly :D

runmichellerun and howskint? you are both official members of the challenge! If you like to have a number in your signature then check out post 2 of the thread for your "membership number".

Well, my house is beginning to resemble a Post Office as I have rediscovered my Ebay mojo! I have been totalling my progress daily on my own thread, but posted the last of four items sold today (Total profit after postage/Paypal works out at £16.09 which isn't too shabby) I have another 19 (I think!) items listed, lots of which have multiple bidders, so that's keeping me quite happy. I am going to have to calm it slightly for a few weeks as I'm helping plan a wedding (Yay, I'm a bridesmaid!) before the bride moves away Up North, so have a lot on just now. I will be doing a carboot in the next couple of weeks too though, so the pennies should keep trickling in.

Hope everyone is well and debt-busting merrily! How are you all getting on? What successes/setbacks are you having?

    Hi f_f and everyone else.

Have been catching up regularly with the thread, well done with the debt busting and stick with it everyone.

Hopeful34 - i havent set my birthday as a DF date, and i originally wanted to be DF by my wedding day, however this isn't going to happen, so just picked a point when i wanted to be DF which was do-able and not completely out of reach but would still need to push myself. so keep going, and posting and see how it goes.

PS had started this challenge with £2850 of debt, i am now at £1990 ish. :j:j Now one of the probs i have is that my main loan is not due to finish until Oct, and i can not overpay, so have been paying off as much as i can off everything else. each day i make a pad it doesnt seem like much, but quite pleased to see my 2 month total = £860. but could still be more. so gonna try harder for the next two months. tho with H2B coming home, (been away with work) this may be an uphill struggle.

my other loan should be paid off this month tho - 1 down 2 to go.

OMG! Well, with that support I suppose it would be wrong to opt out completely. I'll change my target to be debt free by my 36th birthday, September 2010. I'm going to try to do it sooner but so far this year I've had a few financial setbacks. Hopefully I won't be without my rental income for too long and I can start attacking my debt with gusto. I'm going to try to see it as a fun challenge to cut back to the bare bones, rather than just feeling broke and sorry for myself. With all the support on this site, I'm sure we'll all get to where we want to be. Thanks everybody. Good luck.

    Details amended!

Hopefully that will be more realistic for you. The feeling of pride when you clear the debt will be just the same :D

    Hi DFB's

I too am stuggling with my DFD but will keep it as it is at the moment and see how things go. Might have to buy a new pram soon as the one I have (won in an online cometition!) is not very good and the brakes keep jamming - after only 4 weeks usage ,etc. This will set me back quite a bit and might have to use the money I have been saving to pay one of OH's loans off  Will see how it goes.

Need to do more ebaying as well, will give the turbolister a try and copy your system F_F (hope you don't mind). Only ever used the turbolister once, not sure how to use it properly so that the descriptions are formatted - need to read up on it. When I was pregnant I bought two binbags full of used baby clothes (as new) for 0-3 and 3-6 months, came to about 20p for each piece - bargain. Now as my daughter is so big, after only one month she has outgrown the 0-3 ones and hasn't even used a lot of them so I will list them on ebay - most are next, mothercare, etc. Hoping for some profit!

    Thought I'd update!

I am over halfway to my target :T so I'm well pleased!

I have a bit of a plan, which if it works out will mean I'm debt-free by September, yay!

But as I'm sure everyone knows, it doesn't always work out how you want it to!

Hope everyone is feeling positive and having a good day :j
