My toddler loves to leave his finger prints everywhere no matter how many times we wash hands.

My lounge wall near the stairs are covered in finger prints. I've tried using a baby wipes and soapy water but they just dont seem to clean.

I really dont want to decorate right now, I suppose its my own fault for using matt paint instead of silk.

Has anyone any tips on how I can make my walls look cleaner without painting?

Haven't got a solution I'm afraid but I have a similar problem. I've moved to a house where there are marks on the walls from the pictures the previous people had. Don't think it's washable paint but I'd love to clean it rather than repaint just yet.

Have you tried stardrops and hot water with a little wash soda added? Mine are much improved using this mix :)

Sugar soap is what you need:D buy it from any hardware store/B&Q, wilkinsons etc.. decorators use it before painting any surface to remove grease marks, mucky marks you name it. Also I clean my doors and radiators with it. Be warned once you start you can't stop:eek:

I thought sugar soap took the surface of the paint off? Think I've got some in the shed. I'll give it a go on an unobtrusive bit though to see.

I've got some sugar soap in the shed from when we moved in and i cleaned the gloss work. I never would of thought of using it. I will give it a try as its driving me mad staring at the finger prints. ;)

Wonder if it will work in the boys room where they have scuffed the walls with their toys..

    Many Thanks

Please can someone let me know what I can use to clean my walls with. Hoping to get this done tongiht if possible.

A lot has been said on here about stardrops. I have a bottle and if that can be used do I dilute it and by how much?

    Thanks all.

I don't know about stardrops, I use supermarket equivant of Flash diluted in a bucket of water. No need to rinse it off it properly diluted.

I use a cloth, not anything abrasive, as that will take the paint off
