    Hi Bykerlass,

Stardrops is an all purpose cleaner that can be used on almost anything.

Sorry - I've just done a search and noticed that a similar thread already exists. Haven't been on for a while so need to get into the swing of Martin's new site!

My walls going up the stairs are full of mucky finger and hand prints from my children. I have tried normal cleaning products but they don't work.
Any suggestions please? Would be great it I could use something I could make myself.
    Thanks.
  • i too have tried many things ... but the best thing i have found is someting called a magic eraser or erase away .... it looks like a white polystyrine block .... just wet it .... squeeze the excess water and rub away!!!! and it really works!!!!! when the ends get a little worn just cut them off .... it even gets rid of crayon pen etc from walls and black sole marks from floors .... you can get them from most super markets only a couple of pound for 2 pads but they last for ages!!!! good luck

With 4 kids in the house i know where you are coming from on this one!!!LOL.
I use very hot water and wash powder mix, just fill sink with as hotter water as your hands can stand a small sprinkle of your normal washing powder, then nice clean cloth and rinse regularly, the first time takes quite a bit of scubbing but then seems to make it easyier from then on in.

Agree with the suggestion of the magic eraser....works on my classroom walls!!!!!!!
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

  • i run out of the magic erasers and have not been able to find them since they are great though if you can find one. Both my local tescos and asda dont seem to have them:(

Sugar soap! You can get it in B&Q and such like - decorators use it to clean surfaces prior to painting/papering. It's economical and brilliant for all sorts of cleaning jobs around the house. It has to be diluted, but, the instructions for that are on the back of the packet. Unlike many of the "squirt-wipe-job-done" cleaners you find in supermarkets, on some surfaces you do need to rinse it; but don't let that deter you! It's good stuff ;)

Some other cleaners prove too abrasive and can take the paint off the walls if you're not careful!
