Cleaning Painted Walls

Thanks for that ! I have a wall in DS2's room that has got lots of greasy handmarks on.I tried sugar soap but it didn't get it all out. Will try stardrops then PVA !Do what you love :happyhear0 -
We've got cream / white walls in our place and I've noticed scuff marks appearing. Before finding this site I would have bought one of those branded eraser like things to get rid of them - but I wondered if there's a more OS way of cleaning them off? It's on emulsion walls so don't really want to risk taking the paint off with water:rotfl:0

We have walls that are just emulsioned lining paper, and when we moved in they were really scuffed. I got the worst off with a barely damp microfibre cloth and some stardrops. It took AGES as I was too scared to scrub at it, but it did work and you really couldn't tell now that there were any marks at all. It also hasn't made any difference to the paint job. I'd give it a go in a non-conspicuous area first, but it was fine for me0

I do the same as Gingernutmeg, but depending on how bad the scuffs are it may be worth trying with a dry microfibre cloth. Like you I was worried about taking the paint off and the dry cloth removed some of the lighter scuff marks from my boys' bedroom.

I've been rougher with my emulsioned walls and they've lived to tell the tale. Stardrops and warm water spray then scrubbed (gently) with a green pot scrubber, followed by wiping whole wall over with a damp microfibre cloth. Maybe try behind the sofa first to ensure yours will stand up to this.0

I use a splash of neat Flash liquid and a soft cloth, especially for the black rubber marks from shoes! I'm not anti-Stardrops - it's anti-me and makes my skin itch!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

dont use a flash eraser - it will take trhe paint off as I found to my cost :beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Hi OP, you could try attacking it with a pencil eraser, I've managed to get marks of the walls with one before.:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0

I've had emulsioned walls for years and swear by baby wipes - the cheaper the better - marks come off straight away (make you wonder what they do to a baby's bottom though!)

Try Stardrops and kitchen roll - works for me!0
