if its emulsion i think whatever you use to clean it will bring the paint off the walls (ive got same problem in front room where ive tried to clean it off) i use silk paint now (well am slowly getting round to painting house)
i know its a long shot but once you have cleaned the walls can you paint it? you can buy paint for kitchens and bathrooms which is also durable so you can clean it, you can also buy splatter screens for the walls at the back of cookers
ive been luck as in any house ive lived in has had a tiled wall where the cooker is (and the house im in now the whole kitchen is tiled floor to cealing)DFW nerd club number 039'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' :money: i will be debt free aug 2010

I had a similar problem with wax crayon all over an emulsion wall courtesy of DS - used white spirit and a cloth to scrub it off - worked on navy blue crayon on a white wall!0

Soda crystals?
I've found soda crystals rather hard on paintwork. They're great for cleaning up paint before painting again, but I found they took the finish off too much for general cleaning.
The best thing I've used on grease is very hot water and borax.
We now have ceramic tiles around our cooker, which can be cleaned with nearly anything, even oven cleaner. Small areas are fairly easy to tile yourself, and despite the initial effort to tile it has saved a lot of time since.0 -
years ago I used a bit of bread to rub away marks on the wallpaper I think it was a tip my late Ma-in-law told me about0

Does anyone have any good ideas as to how I can clean the walls in my house.
They are looking a bit grubby, they are painted with normal emulsion. I was just going to use soap and water, but, someone told me this will take the emulsion off the wall!!!
Any ideas, failing that, im going to have to paint them.

Hi Jackie, some of my walls are emulsioned and i just use stardrops in a bucket of warm water, and a cloth, had no problems yet. The emulsion will have a vinyl content and as long as you dont scrub it should be fine.0

Hi jackie,
There's an earlier thread with lots of advice for cleaning painted walls that should help so I've added your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.
I've used stardrops to clean walls and also sugar soap which is very gentle. This thread might help too: Sugar soap!!! just discovered how fab it is!
