simply plug the guitar into the mic input of your soundcard (with the correct leads!)

Whatever you do don't plug your guitar into the mic input on your computer. Mic inputs are very different to instrument inputs. If your not careful you could blow your speakers or if wearing headphones your ears.

If you set the level quite low to start with it will be OK - however computer mic inputs are very poor quality and the guitar will sound terrible.

You can get then for under a tenner on amazon.co.uk.
    It beats reading a book.

Can anyone recommend a good electric guitar beginners book, dvd, or even website?

This was posted somewhere on this forum a while ago. You can ask for a free guitar tuition CD. I have never seen one so I can't recommend it as such but it is free so may be worth looking at.

That looks a little misleading to me. It appears to be a 'Guitar tuition cd information pack' - ie a cd information pack about guitar tuition, as opposed to a guitar tuition cd (could be wrond though)

Be careful of eBuyer reviews - they tend to remove any negative ones.

Thanks OP. I went for the black one. Came to £66.10 with standard postage. Could have had it for £64.97 but I'd have had to wait for it until Wednesday. I know the blue one is cheaper but I'd rather pay £10 and have the colour I want. :)
