Ebay feedback - Is anyone from ebay reading? I have some suggestions

If feedback is left immediately after payment surely the seller can only say how quickly the buyer paid for the item.
If feedback is left once the item has been received the seller can leave more detailed feedback.
If, as a buyer, your feedback is so important to you surely you would like it to show that you are a good buyer from start to finish, rather then a lot of statements saying you have paid for an item?

Which bit of "feedback is voluntary" does the OP not understand?

I sell on ebay to make money, not to feed the egos of people with no other worries in life except to collect patronising green blobs that mean nothing in reality.

Stick to reading the Daily Mail, taking the pills, and give up on ebay - it's obviously far too much stress and hassle for you. And to be frank, I think most sellers could do without the unneccessary stress and hassle that you seem very likely to bring them.

I sometimes if i get a good feeling about a buyer leave the feedback before they have got it. normally only if i have been talking to them through the sale, but to be honest some buyers can be a pain in the !!!! after so i dont leave them any.

i have had someone on here (they don't know i know its them) demand to know why i have not left them FB as a buyer as they had left me some.

Like steve says it is only feedback. i dont do it regulary i wait untill i have got about 30 that need leaving and do it then .
If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.
  • Well I'm just a crazy person obviously because I think what feedback I leave and when is entirely up to me.

If I left feedback immediately after payment all I would be able to say is

    ""Paid"

    or possibly something like

    "Paid quickly"

    and occasionally

    "Paid immediately"

I prefer to leave feedback later and be able to add info such as "friendly comms", "really nice person to do business with", "gives great feedback" etc. (or even "Be Warned. Emails hourly until sellers leave feedback. Not a fun buyer. ")

I think the feedback system is for more than simply saying "Paid" or "Posted"

If someone has been a complete nutter then I like to use my mother's of quoted maxim "If you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all."

A buyer leaves feedback when the transaction is over for them. They have received the item and they are happy.

I leave feedback when the buyer has left theirs because the transaction is not over for me until I am certain that the buyer is happy and no unpleasant situations will arise.

That seems logical to me , although of course I am well aware that on eBay as in life there are some people whose behaviour is not governed by logic.

    Hiya guys,

This thread is making me feel as if I should stop making an effort to leave individual personalised feedback for buyers and instead just automate some generic message for everyone.

Weirdly, it appears that this would make some buyers happier!

Isn't it true all you sellers out there that you wait for feedback to be left first in case your buyer mons you've either lied or waited a week to stick the items in the post?

Edited to change the slip! Please do have a good laugh at my expense at that one. I'll mark myself down 2 stars!!! :)

Not sure which one of these should read seller, but I can honestly say that, as a buyer, I expect to leave feedback first as that closes the transaction, shows that I am happy with the goods I have received etc. If a seller leaves feedback as soon as I have paid I always think they must be a bit soft, really, as they have no idea if the rest of the transaction will go smoothly. As a seller I expect to be left feedback first for all the reasons above, but I'm not exactly inconsolable if it doesn't happen.

As both a buyer and a seller, if the other party badgers me for feedback, they get none. If the transaction goes well I leave a positive and stars dependant on how the transaction went, not dependant on who left feedback first .

I think the above is pretty logical really, but then again I don't actually think about it much as I have a life ;)
