Why leave positive feedback just because someone has paid? What if they then went on to be a pain in the backside? What if the item wasn't received and they sent abusive emails? What if they did a chargeback? The transaction is not complete just because someone has paid.
I used to think the same, I'm happy to admit I was wrong. Leave feedback immediately after receiving payment. Under the new feedback rules if you do get a subsequent problem you can then leave a follow up to the positive, not that that has ever arisen for me.

Yet I trusted them to list honestly and sent my money - usually within the hour. What else can I do to get the God-damned sons of b******s to do the right thing and leave me feedback when they post the God-damned items??!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Do you really have to use this kind of language? Ok, we all have a rant every now and again, but this is uncalled for.

As one of my friend's said to me once, he only uses swear words to subsidise his lack of grasp of the english language...

TBH as a buyer myself I do think that sellers should leave feedback as soon as a buyer has paid, as in my mind the buyer has fulfilled their obligations in the transaction, I always feel (well not so much now since sellers can't leave a neg) that sellers are going to leave feedback dependent on the feedback they receive, this is unfair, they should leave feedback based on how quickly they were paid and whether any communication prior to this from the buyer was done courteously. Once they have been paid, if there is any follow up issues this should not affect the feedback they leave for the buyer anyway

At least there is one other person who agrees with me.

Except, of course, the people you're buying the stuff from.

1 Why should sellers leave feedback first? And why does it worry you, it's not like you can recieve a negative from a seller anymore???

2 That's how business works, Do you honestly expect a seller to just post your item in blind faith that you'll pay when it arrives? Maybe you should do more online shopping... order stuff from Play (I would suggest LoveHoney, but as you're blatantly not getting any at the moment, it'd be pointless...), then pay a week after it arrives maybe.

3 So, a seller that offers free P+P, posts the item as soon as you pay, and sends you a message to notify you of this fact, will still only get 4 stars across the board...

4 There are few cases where a seller-left negative is warranted though. If the buyer doesn't pay, NPBs cancel out any feedback left for that transaction.

5 So... the seller leaves positive saying "quick payment" or whatever, but doesn't send the item. The buyer doesn't realise (eg if they've been buying loads of similar items in a short period of time), but doesn't leave any feedback for anyone (they don't know what's turned up, and what hasn't). In your system, the seller gets a free positive, despite not even sending the item .

6 And finally.... if you never sell stuff, why the !!!! do you care so much anyway, buyer feedback is completely worthless... do you just want a differently coloured pretty little star after your name? :p

7 Oh, and post your ebay user ID. I doubt I'm the only seller on here that wants to add you to the blocked bidder list

1 Seller ought to leave their feedback once they've have the buyers money and despatched the goods

2 I didn't say that. I said I've trusted the vendor and sent my money. I expect him to despatch my item & leave feedback thanking me for my business. It is my view that most buyers don't do it in this order because they've perhaps pulled a stroke and want to deny the buyer a positive as retribution for fair comment.

3 Not quite - (see other posts). But for the sake of brevity here - yes. If a vendor hasn't left me feedback prior to the arrival of the goods, I will only ever leave a maximum of 4 stars. I've given them my business and paid promptly. Leaving me +ve feedback is their way of saying thankyou for my business. I don't like rude people.

4 If a buyer doesn't pay (and I have NEVER not paid), then a negative strike is certainly justified.

5 Six WEEKS is long enough to realise you've not been sent the goods / they've not arrived. It would cut the arguing too. If you can't be arsed to leave me feedback AT ALL once I've given you my custom, why should you benefit from my positive but I get absolutely nothing else from the transaction??? Doing it my way would mean you'd HAVE TO play the feedback game or only risk getting neg'd or whilst gaining nothing.

6 I think I said 99% I buy, 1% I sell. Seldom and never are two different things.

7 Why not give me your ebay handle so I can avoid you. You're probably the type of individual who doesn't post an item which has been paid for within hours for 4 or 5 working days, doesn't tell the buyer that either and doesn't leave feedback first because you'd have left a positive against a deserved neutral or negative! And if I knew you're handle, please belive me, I would NOT want to enrich you!
