Ebay feedback - Is anyone from ebay reading? I have some suggestions

Why leave positive feedback just because someone has paid? What if they then went on to be a pain in the backside? What if the item wasn't received and they sent abusive emails? What if they did a chargeback? The transaction is not complete just because someone has paid.
In that case when is a transaction complete?
When the buyer has had the item a week? A month? Three months? How long are you going to leave it before you know the buyer isn't going to claim the item has stopped working, for example?
If you leave good feedback and the buyer then messes you about, you can always leave a follow up comment about their attitude.
If the buyer leaves you a neg, you can post a reply. No big deal.0 -
Who gives a toss about buyer feedback? You can't get negatives anymore, so you're gonna be 100% forever and ever.My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I still say that sellers don't leave immediate feedback because they want to perform feedback extortion.
FWIW, I would have no concerns about a star system as a buyer.
Did I pay reasonably quicky.
If I had any questions, did I raise them politely.
Oh - and although I say I only ever leave a maximum of 4 stars if leaving f'back 1st; if a vendor sends me an email and says "I have just sent your item and will leave f'back when you receive it", then they'll get a 5
As a seller, once you've despatched someone's goods, do the right thing and leave feedback - or are you just worried that you've given the power to be spiteful over your failings away?0 -
Move over to Amazon then buyers don't get feedback at all in 99% of cases!0

So do you e-mail all your sellers to let them know you have received your item then? Or do you expect them to be psychic? Please don't judge all sellers by your own small minded standards. I sell on E-bay for a profit and because I enjoy it, not to get one over on my buyers. I have never yet used feedback as a tool. If they arent happy I ask them to return and refund immediately. That way everyone is happy.0 -
If you've sold me something, where I paid for the item within 10 minutes of the auction ending, EHAT ELSE CAN I DO TO GET A +VE??????? Shouldn't I get one as you despatch my items????
Or, as a seller, are you worried about that tear in the corder that you didn't list and just want to hold back on the feedback incase I (justifiably in some cases,MOAN about it)???
You will know when the item I trusted you'd described properly and posted within a reasonable time (or kept me informed where possible {because telepathy isn't one of my best skills}) arrives and I leave you feedback thanking you and praising you for doing what you should do - which is accept my money, despatch my item, and leave me feedback!
Like I say, you can only score 4 out of 5 stars if I have to go first,...
And I am still looking for views on "blind feedback" - where no feedback is displayed until both sides have left appropriate feedback or 42 days have elapsed.... And where only one side has left feedback, only the none-leaving feedback side suffers (f a neutral of -ve has been left) or loses out if a +ve had been left.
I think you may be taking it all a bit seriously - if it puts your blood pressure up that much, probably best not to bother leaving any. I guess the sellers will survive.0 -
We leave feedback after the buyer has left us feedback as a seller and leave feeback after we have got the item as a buyer.
That is the way it should be in my mind.
Since ebay took away our right to warn other sellers of scam artists the only option we have when faced with a potential scammer is to not leave at all. It's a small thing but I'm not going to do anything that could help one of those b*ds.This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.

Op - Sheesh mate - you seriously need to calm down about stuff.
There are people dying in this world and you're barking on about an insignificant feedback system?
Marking someone down on their feedback just because they may have been too busy to leave you feedback is so petty. You should consider yourself extremely fortunate that you obviously have nothing better to be worrying about. Long may it continue."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I sell on ebay and leave feedback the minute they pay. They have done their job by paying, then it's my job to make sure they are happy with their goods.
If I was worried about them leaving bad feedback then I should consider selling better products!0 -
Except, of course, the people you're buying the stuff from.I have the impression lots of other people are like this too.
Why should sellers leave feedback first? And why does it worry you, it's not like you can recieve a negative from a seller anymore???Sellers who won't leave me feedback until I leave some for them first.
That's how business works, Do you honestly expect a seller to just post your item in blind faith that you'll pay when it arrives? Maybe you should do more online shopping... order stuff from Play (I would suggest LoveHoney, but as you're blatantly not getting any at the moment, it'd be pointless...), then pay a week after it arrives maybe. Now let me see. I have to trust a vendor that they've truthfully listed their item and that they indeed will post it to me because i am expected to pay 1st.I'm glad we have this star rating. Any vendor (about 85% of them) who doesn't leave me feedback first can only score 4 stars on each of the rateable items. I only ever give myself the option of leaving 5 stars if I've had feedback first.
So, a seller that offers free P+P, posts the item as soon as you pay, and sends you a message to notify you of this fact, will still only get 4 stars across the board...Taking away a seller's right to leave a negative wasn't the answer - though it certainly stopped spiteful poor sellers from leaving unwarranted libel where purchasers leave fair reflections of a lack of service... But when a seller can't leave a buyer a negative which is justified... Well it's just unfair.
There are few cases where a seller-left negative is warranted though. If the buyer doesn't pay, NPBs cancel out any feedback left for that transaction. What about seller leaves a +ve but buyer leaves nothing. After 42 days, the seller gets a +1, the buyer's score stays unchanged.
So... the seller leaves positive saying "quick payment" or whatever, but doesn't send the item. The buyer doesn't realise (eg if they've been buying loads of similar items in a short period of time), but doesn't leave any feedback for anyone (they don't know what's turned up, and what hasn't). In your system, the seller gets a free positive, despite not even sending the item
And finally.... if you never sell stuff, why the !!!! do you care so much anyway, buyer feedback is completely worthless... do you just want a differently coloured pretty little star after your name?
Oh, and post your ebay user ID. I doubt I'm the only seller on here that wants to add you to the blocked bidder list :mad:Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.
