Sorry you feel you have to be so cynical regarding customers, must be stressful.
Sorry you think sensible precautions = being cynical. I guess you haven't seen all the multitude of threads like this one on this board:

Sorry you feel you have to attack Jacks's posts when several people on this thread are expressing similar sentiments.0 -
I'm aware of threads about problem buyers, I'm also aware that they are the exceptions rather than a regularity. I've had 30,000 plus transactions on Ebay and less than a handful of problem customers.DoWhatULove-LoveWhatUDo wrote: »Sorry you think sensible precautions = being cynical. I was expressing a concern that people feel the need to be wary of customers (and indeed sellers according to this thread) by withholding feedback.
As I said earlier I used to leave feedback after the buyer had and then changed it and I believed it has improved customer satisfaction. I have no idea why anyone has any interest whatsoever in feedback or why so many take it so seriously, but they do, so I'm happy to play along with it.
I'm more than happy for people to disagree with me, as long as I know I'm right that's ok with me.
Now here's the seemingly obligatory smily:D.0 -

I do not think that there should be 'rules' about who leaves feedback first. I think that it makes more sense for the buyer to leave feedback first as this shows that they are happy/unhappy.
A good buyer is not just someone who pays quickly. A buyer can pay quickly but expect the item to arrive the next day. Why should a buyer that is a pain in the a**e get a +ve? OP, you have said that a buyer if unreasonable (can't remember exact wording) should get a -ve so would it not make sense not to leave feedback straight after the payment has been made.
When a seller sells goods the buyer normally gets something in return. OP, you make it sound that the seller should be eternally grateful for your custom.
Just because a seller posts the next day does not mean the buyer gets a quick delivery and not all parcels have a date on them. It is nice if a seller lets the buyer know the goods have been dispatched but if they have a lot of sales or a life you can understand why this may not be possible.
Not leaving feedback first does not equal scammer.
I would have thought an email to say "your item has been despatched" followed by feedback at the same time would be the right thing to do.
Just as a matter of interest; where only one side has left feedback, then it's possible once the feedback can't be reciprocated, to still nevertheless be able to leave additional comments - but these can't be replied to...
What this means is if a buyer leaves polite positive feedback but your typical arrogant seller can't actually bring himself to say "thank you" (and manners are optional, after all - I can see there's a lot of ignorant & arrogant comment in this thread), the buyer can leave a further comment which can not be replied to.
Ignorant vendor who didn't leave feedback might be apt as an extra comment which by that time can not be replied to at all.

I'm aware of threads about problem buyers, I'm also aware that they are the exceptions rather than a regularity. I've had 30,000 plus transactions on Ebay and less than a handful of problem customers.
I've sold 11 items on eBay and 4 of the transactions were problematic, one frighteningly so. However I am not so (arrogant? daft?) as to take my own experience and extrapolate in into facts. They are my problems and not your problems, and I have not posted on here about any of these problems, but nevertheless they still exist.I was expressing a concern that people feel the need to be wary of customers (and indeed sellers according to this thread) by withholding feedback.
I am concerned that if scammers can build up feedback scores just by clicking Buy and Pay that it is a problem we all need to be wary of. One of the buyers I had an issue with had done the same thing to many people in a short space of time but many of them had left him glowing feedback already. When first feeling uneasy I checked his feedback, but thanks to instant feedback everything looked fine.As I said earlier I used to leave feedback after the buyer had and then changed it and I believed it has improved customer satisfaction. I have no idea why anyone has any interest whatsoever in feedback or why so many take it so seriously, but they do, so I'm happy to play along with it.
Instant automatic feedback decreases my customer satisfaction as I believe it indicates a a seller who sees his or her customers as merely £ signs rather than individual people. I prefer personal feedback no matter when it is posted. I take the issue of feedback seriously because some of my buyers and sellers do, and I am not in the habit of dismissing other people's opinions or feelings out of hand.I'm more than happy for people to disagree with me, as long as I know I'm right that's ok with me.
I'm also happy to be disagreed with. My views are so rarely the majority verdict that it would be futile to object to people holding alternate opinions. Singling people out is not on, however. Now here's the seemingly obligatory smily:D
Indeed.
If it was not your intention to be rude and unkind to Jacks the judicious employment of smileys could have made that clear. The jocular tone of her post was self evident even without the smiley. 0 -

Think about it, people.
At risk of breaching some MSE rules here, but you are one of the most condescending, ignorant, stubborn, petty, naive, blinkered excuses for an idiot I've ever had the misfortune to meet in a forum.
That is actually quite an accolade, but please just remember one thing about feedback.
It's voluntary.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
