Dishwasher tablets - how much do you use?

I buy whatever is cheapest, and then cut them in half and find that i have no problems at all. Once or twice, when ive run out of tablets, i have used a little washing powder instead.0

Also, when you put them in make sure they're away from any "float" mechanism. My DW has this thing that's supposed to float up and down so that it doesn't overflow. Unfortunately, the tablet was getting caught under the mechanism, it couldn't go down, end result no water in the DW. I'm ashamed to admit that I almost called in a repair man over this.

I've gone back to using dishwasher powder instead of tabs and it lasts an eternitySnootchie Bootchies!0

Definitely agree that powder works out soooo much cheaper...plus you can add as much or little as you need depending on how greasy your dishes are.
I buy a big 3 kg bottle from Lidl but then decant it out into a more easy to lift 1 kg bottle. I've always found supermarket own brands to be just as good as the more expensive brands.weaving through the chaos...0 -
I use liquid rather than tablets - you can bulk buy the Clearspring liquid from Faith in Nature, works out much cheaper than tabs. I bought a 1 litre one and then bulk buy the 5 litre containers to top it up with. Suppossed to better for the environment than the tablets too.

I use GLISS dishwasher tablets,I have about 10 years worth(hope they dont go off)I bought them from Asda, they were on BOGOF and they had three 50p off vouchers in each box,so I opened the boxes and used the vouchers, then if you break the tablets in half they last for ages.0

I use ecover tablets, just tried cutting one in half and the dishes are just as clean as usuing a whole one. I do intend to use the Clearspring liquid next, I use a lot of Faith Products so intend to buy when I put my next order in.MFW 1/5/08 £45,789 Cleared mortgage 1/02/13

I use the cutting a tablet in half method which I learned from here and it does work. I think it depends on your dishwasher though - my last one was pants and didn't clean anything with no amount of cleaning products...It looked nice though  I always was a sucker for something good looking :rotfl:A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

I use Lidl's powder, rinse aid & salt - lasts for absolutely ages. Much better value than even their tablets (which are cheap & good, too, compared with other tablets)0
