do you mean washing powder for clothes?
the ordinary soap powder is fine for the dishwasher, my cuz told me and he works in unilever so I tried it, and my dishy is now almost 10 years old never had a problem

very rarely I use a dishwasher tablet  but as man about says, if you get a few stains  just pop half of one in there and they come up great

Well, I'm amazed :o I would have thought that you'd get a 'washing powder' taste but i suppose the rinsing takes care of that and if you're only using a small amount of powder anyway...............
I shall try that tonight or tomorrow, whenever I need to put the dishwasher on. :)

occasionally I get a bit of a smell off the dishes of soap powder I always check when I take the first plate out

if it does, I just put them through a last rinse again and its fine

only use a teaspoon full and it should be ok.

Use a really cheap powder that has very little smell, Tesco Value is ideal. :D

It was this site that got me onto using 1/2 a dishwasher tablet per wash. I can't remember the last time I bought a box of dishy tablets, I must be running low.........
No ill effects on the dishes at all.

Yes, why are we so trusting? The big conglomerate that is try to sell us yet more product tells us we have to use so much. AND WE BELIEVE THEM! ;D
