I think you've got to smile, otherwise you'd cry.

We've ruled out our ''posible'' because it was next to a motorway. That says something, that we were thinking tht something that bordered a motorway might be worth it.. Even worse that having been worried DH liked the plce by the motorway we've ruled it out and I'm still kind of regreting it. I'm pretty fed up about it all. Other plans are on hold, plans that sort of depend on us being settled. See...now I've talked myself into a :(

Sorry... you are right - a :) is MUCH better.... ;)

Don't think that you want to live by the motorway...

Hey lir, we waited 7 years to get the place we wanted. Prior to that we'd looked at other houses in the same area, they either weren't right, we got gazumped or the house was sold before we found out (not that the latter are likely to happen now).

What I'm saying is, when its right it will be right and you will know. Hold your horses ;) you'll get there!

Rightmove isn't quite so useful as it once was. The biggest EAs in the area have withdrawn from RM. One of them reckons they've done it as they weren't getting any 'hits' from RM, so it wasn't worth paying the annual fee. Personally, I reckon that they're barely selling anything and need to cut costs wherever possible.

So, RM misses a lot of the 'action' round here I guess.

Of those on RM I see that houses priced at seemingly low prices are selling, those that are overpriced simply aren't. A repo at £65k sold in days, private sales of similar houses at asking prices of £110k are clearly going nowhere fast. I don't bother looking at a price ranges above 150k as those properties don't interest me, so no idea what's going on with the higher end stuff.

Most of life is no longer on hold. Moving with pregant mares isn't that easy though,:o;) and finding suitable livery for youngstock very difficult, not cheap. Realistically I have a tough choice. my special girl really is going to be to old soon, and I know she'd love a foal. She was a great mother before and I'll never find another like her...but the risks when our facilities are rented is great..I'm really not sure. Its something I'd like to do for her, and for me, but times running out :(

DH wanted bees and sheep this year here too. I had to turn down some birds. The idea of moving bees and sheep and hobby-poultry on top of everything else is too much for me, its not simple as it is, but making it worse would be a night mare.

That is just MAD... surely RM is the "internet savvy house buyer's bible"???

One thing that annoys me is properties being withdrawn from the market (sometimes for a matter of weeks) and then coming back to the market (with a new RM ID but often the same agent): so you obviously loose any information (it is like a "new" property). It sort of breaks the paper trail... If I was an EA, though, it is a fairly tempting thing to do (since a "new" property is likely to get more interest initially - even if it comes back at the same price...)!

Nope. Lots of rural/farm agents have always prefered Primelocation...or other portals, or simply there own websites. Takes me ages to trawl through them all.

Oh wow! That really is a handful (I thought that you might be talking about having babies yourself :o ) - I can see how it would be very complicated... would be lovely to have a foal, though. :)

I am noticing more equestrian facilities coming up in the Somerset/Devon area, but a lot are quite pricey still...

Devon is too far, very sadly, its so beautiful. DH works in London. There are some coming on in Somerset- still a bit far really.. One I've been watching for a long while is listed as three bed, but is infact one bed, and its practically a 'hill' farm rather than good grazing. I can't remember exactly ATM but its down to somewhere in the £900ks from the £1.2 million mark IIRC. Its not very nice, the land is ''not right'' for us, its a ridiculous price per acre, and its a ONE BEDROOM cottage.

We'd actally prefer to build, and most equestrian facilities are a; overvalued imo, and b: not suitable for our needs. The horses are a hobby, and will provide an income, and transport :D We're wanting to be more involved in smallholding/agriculture in , and to self build. Its a difficult combination...planners hate us.:o:D

Wow, you like a challenge then! :D

So you are looking for Wilts/Berks/Hants? Good commute times into London?

Sounds like you have your work cut out... it does amaze me how much "landed" property there is for sale though (although probably not suitable for more agricultural needs). We are the reverse - don't want much land: just a large sized house with a nice sized garden (and the moon on a stick ;) ).

Prices are insane really - I just can't see how people are supposed to afford them... If you look at all of the "million pound" property around, then there must be a good few hundred thousand multi-millionaires in this country.

SSTC properties stay on Rightmove for ages. I also noticed some EAs dumping loads of properties on to Rightmove already SSTC (they must have sold ages ago). Not worth reading too much into it.
