http://www.home.co.uk/ seems a good place for all sorts of views on whats happening to prices in your area eg
Property Asking Price Report for April 2008 to April 2009 (NB this report is for a specified post code area)

This report displays the average* asking prices for property for sale, for each month from April 2008 to April 2009. The price trends are broken down by property type and number of bedrooms. Thanks D1zzy - interesting.

The fact that asking prices have not dropped much at all here in the past months is perhaps bourne out by the lack of actual sales....

My neighbour took a part exchange for his place a couple of months ago and I see the house he took on as part payment is now SSTC. His place is on Nethouseprices as sold for 249,950. He paid 110K for theirs and advertised for 129,950. A bit of a faff but it worked for him. We're in North Staffordshire.
Not much selling although our agent says houses coming on at sensible prices are getting SSTC within a month. Can't see much evidence except in lower priced properties which seem to be selling a tad quicker.

Within 1/2 amile 43 on the market of which 12 are SSTC. All the solds are sub £200k. That is not good news for us as ours (going on the market soon!) will be priced higher than anything currently on the market although it is bigger, with better location, than anything else too.
  • Seem to be the same story in Nottingham (NG8 and NG2). The good house in prime locations are selling very quickly, and anything that is well priced sells within days. I dont know how much for though. I will only find out when they are listed in the registry.

Oddly, one West Bridgford estate agent has listed loads of STC houses today:

    http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/find/Royston-and-Lund-Estate-Agents/Nottingham.html?locationIdentifier=BRANCH^8278&includeSSTC=true&_includeSSTC=on

    Very strange indeed.
