Are houses selling in your area on Rightmove ? (Dead in the water where I am)

Just been checking through on Rightmove with Property Bee, as I have been for the last 8 months, and absolutely nothing is selling at all, out of nearly 300 properties for sale only 1 has gone under offer in the last week and nothing has gone SSTC for nearly 2 weeks now, considering it's supposed to be Spring and activity up, I'm surprised, it's the lowest activity I have seen since I started looking in July last year.

Just as an anecdote, properties that are hitting the land registry are also at there lowest, with the 3 month figure at just 24, the EA's must be struggling as there is 9 agents servicing this area.

What's activity like in your area ?

I had a look for you.

5 out of 78 on right move are SST within 1/2 a mile of our house.
Also there are 3 newbuilds sold that are not listed.
  • In Perth, not alot of houses are on rightmove (the solicitors only list on PSPC), but the houses in the good areas of Perth are selling at full valuation price or very close to the figure. I have noticed around at least 6 houses in the last 2 weeks which which new sold signs put up. Just wish that the bottom would drop out the market so that I could stand a chance.

I got the knock back today for a house where the seller is looking for between £180K- £190K. I offered £175K with no chain and finance in place.
Madness. Areas of Scotland are still doing well.

Just done the same check as Really. 1/2 mile of house and there are 17 marked as SSTC or under offer out of 84. This is quite amazing because activity has been near zero for the last 12 months. Prices have been hit hard round here [south east] but, like the 90s I expect areas of the south east to lead the recovery.

In the west York area here and houses really are starting to sell pretty quick at the moment. there seems to have been a lift in the market.

Hopefully it wont last long and we can resume the downward spiral so I can put in a couple of cheeky offers!

Depends on the area and price bracket: in the area and price bracket that I am looking at, VERY little is selling at all. A few go SSTC, but 4 out of 5 of them tend to come available again.

One or two things going at the very top of the market (i.e. £1m/£1m+) and quite a lot more activity lower down (sub-£400k).

Am seeing a FEW more coming onto the market more reasonably priced and a few dropping their prices - so there may be more interest (although still think that they are priced at 2007 prices... so maybe not).

  • Specific searches of 4 bedroom houses in North Ayrshire. Nothing moving or has done for months. Minimal price drops of 1 to 5 k.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

134 properties within half a mile of me (N. Staffs) on Rightmove - 10 are under offer - 1 SSTC.

What I have noticed is that many of the properties that have SSTC boards slapped on them - come back on Rightmove in a few weeks. One agent in particular can't be bothered to take the SSTC boards down when they come back onto the market...
