Hello all, there are some amzing ideas on here!

Well i guess i should tell a little about us. We are gettign married next August and are going for a fairly informal affair. We are into recycling, being eco aware and ethically guided so we are trying to bring that to our day, hence why i'm interested in ideas on here. I have finished making my envelopes for my invites (which i am making but haven't started yet!) i also have some ribbon i bought from ebay which is going to decorate jam jars, then we are having wild flowers from the fields as table decorations and tea light holders hanging from the trees outside. Don't think i've done much else. I'll try to post a pic of the envelopes on here if i can, they are made from old gardening magazines and are so easy i would recommend making your own envelopes to anyone!

Hi, thanks for posting, because I couldn't remember who it was who inspired me to make my toppers - YOU!! you posted pics a while back and i was so impressed i went and ordered a load off www.craftyarts.co.uk (which i believe you said you got your clay from.

The first figures went really well (except for his suit!). For the second attempt I tried making "stuffing" of foil, to put the clay around, so you use less and get a better "shaping", but i've done him and half done me.

    How did you do yours?

    Oh wow - really :j

Yes, that's where I ordered my clay, I'm so pleased you are enjoying it

I never thought bout using foil as a stuffing, that's a great tip - would use much less clay as well. I just used clay for the lot, but your way would be cheaper.

When attaching the heads I put a cocktail stick through the body and spiked the head on for more security (also done the same with OH's legs)

How are you getting on with the skirt? I found that the hardest part to roll out and keep flat because of the expanse - think it took me 3 attempts :o

You need to upload it to a site like photobucket /Imageshack or the like

Then copy the direct link under the picture and paste it into your message between IMG tags like this:

Now see, this is what a trip to Hobbycraft will do to you :o

I wasn't having a table plan, my venue prints one off, but I was in Hobbycraft and saw a pack to make up your own plans and thought that a printed one will look pretty rubbish really.

But, they never had any in my colour so I decided to create my own. (Names have been blurred for obvious reasons lol):D

    0012-1.jpg

The tables have been attached with sticky pads to give them a 3-D effect, and the names are fixed with little velcro tabs so I can still move people about ;)

    Cream Paper: £99p
I sheet each of Gold/cream/beige pearlescent paper: £2.97
    Roses: £1.97
    Rings: 89p
    Hearts: 44p
    Ribbon: £2.10
    Diamontes: from another project

(Hobbycraft is my newest favourite shop!):j

Just need to find a little easel to prop it up on.

  • Louise - you are a fantastic artist - wish I had your skills

your cake toppers are brilliant!! my MOH lives in Arizona in USA and she is currently making all the decorations for our cake (we are just buying plain cakes and she is decorating them when she comes over) - our cake is having personalised things on them and will look similar to this

    http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo-51971.html

she asked us things to add to the cake which are personal to us (within reason) - I just love this cake design :)
