They are fabulous - you should start a business up selling them on Ebay!

Louise, they are fantastic, really the first time you've tried making them? You obviously have a talent! I loved Fimo as a kid but was always disappointed what I made wasn't perfect like the examples on the boxes. Maybe I should give it another go!
Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

A picture of my invites (sorry for all of the blacked-out bits):

Card/envelopes (less than £10) from Ebay
    Organza ribbon from Ebay
Paper insert printed and folded inside.
Font downloaded from a free font website.

Am not very good at arty things and wanted something simple but which tied in with the colourscheme. We are going to make Order of Service sheets and Table plan along the same lines.

    Leylauk - they look great:T

I really like that font - can I ask what website you downloaded it from? It would look great for the names on my table plan, I was just going to scroll through the list on microsot word for a font lol.

There are 2 different fonts on the invite. One is Brock Script and the other is Chopin Script. I cant remeber the exact site we used but I have just done a search and they appear to be available at:
    http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/list/style/Script

Edit: H2B says that to install them after you have unzipped them you need to go into Control panel, click fonts, drag and drop the new fonts in and then open Word up and they should appear in the list.

  • Hi everyone, I have made fascinators, invites, bridesmaids flowers and candles. I am going to make the cake, seating plan, buttonholes, bridesmaids wand and possibly my own flowers. I think it is really much more personal with the added bonus of saving a stack of cash. I am actually really chuffed with everything I have made so far and they do all look good, let's hope it continues lol!!

Please give us a pic of the cake topper - i've been considering this - is it difficult? were you already into modlling or did you start just for this?

Hi, I haven't finished them yet, but I will definitely post pics when I'm done. It's fairly easy tbh, it's just the groom's suit that is so damn difficult to do :( I'm on my second try now - the first try went amazingly well for my first ever go at using fimo. I did them with the "round ball" heads, and then decided that i would have another go, doing the heads more to the shape of our own heads, to make them look more like us (but not detailed facial features - i think that's beyond me!). Have a go, it's lots of fun!

One HUGE tip though - DO NOT WEAR BLACK/DARK COLOURS!! I believe the same warning goes for wearing white. The fibres on your clothing get onto the fimo, so especially when you're using white/ivory it's best to be extra careful.

Also, if you're using Sculpey (which I am), and you're doing an ivory dress, go for "Vanilla Creme" colour, not "Ivory" - the ivory one is almost dirty looking  Thankfully i'd ordered both, as i was thinking of vanilla creme for my skin as I'm so pale, but it's definitely dress colour. "Beige" for skin.

If you have any questions, just ask :)

How are you getting on with these?

I bought the clay and had my first ever attempt at fimo figures:

Hoping to find the time to make little child figures so we can have the whole family on the cake.:rotfl:

Hi, thanks for posting, because I couldn't remember who it was who inspired me to make my toppers - YOU!! you posted pics a while back and i was so impressed i went and ordered a load off https://www.craftyarts.co.uk (which i believe you said you got your clay from.

The first figures went really well (except for his suit!). For the second attempt I tried making "stuffing" of foil, to put the clay around, so you use less and get a better "shaping", but i've done him and half done me.

    How did you do yours?
  • Oh yes, good idea for making the kids - i'm doing my daughter too if i havetime after doing us :) 8 weeks to go and so much still to be done! need to stop spending my evenings online lol.
