Lovely reading about all your DIY wedding projects. Here's what we've done:

Invitations - Inside has all the details, but there is text on every page instead of the more traditional one page (if that makes sense), there's a bit of a book theme and we wanted the invitations to be like mini-books. Also got the library date stamp and some poetry quotes inside to echo this.

Wedding shawl - I'm on the home straight, doing the edging every night. It's the Papay shawl by Liz Lovick and I'm using Orkney Angora. I was born in Orkney so like including things from it in the wedding. If I were to do it again I wouldn't use angora though, I was so carried away with having Orkney yarn that I didn't think through the practicalities, the main one being it sheds like anything - not very good when I'll be standing next to someone in a navy suit a lot! I don't plan on wearing it all the time but I think I'll be extra grateful if it's a bit chilly on the day.

My stepdad has made a bowl for us to put our rings in and one of my sisters has made some bunting for the hall, which you can see in the background of the photo of the bowl (impossible to get a good photo of bunting in a flat!). I'm going to make some white bunting for the garden as well.

    MsChazzer - what fantastic craftwork!

I really like the 'book them' that you have got going with the invites. That shawl - what can I say, it's beautiful!! Looks so cosy as well, what a lot of work you have put into that.:T

As for the bowl - that will have loads of uses for after the wedding, very practical. I really like it, does your stepdad do a lot of woodcraft?

Thanks for sharing your items :j

Thanks, when we first found our venue we had a look for book theme ideas on the net, and there's some lovely stuff out there. We did think of having library catalogue cards for save the dates and brown issue cards on the inside of the invites for RSVPs but in the end didn't bother, partly time, partly money!

I should have my shawl done by the end of April if I keep going at my current rate, I've been working on it since last summer, not continuously though.

My stepdad does a lot of woodturning, there's a link to his site underneath the photo, probably a bit iffy to post it on here though. he's also making me up a small wooden ring that I'm going to attach ribbons to for my littlest bridesmaid to hold/play with/swish about. She's so teeny that most readymade flowers/wands etc are way too big.

Fimo cake toppers!! (So much fun but VERY time consuming, so takes some motivation)

How are you getting on with these?

I bought the clay and had my first ever attempt at fimo figures:

Hoping to find the time to make little child figures so we can have the whole family on the cake.:rotfl:

Louise - they are brilliant! I could never make anything like that :(

The cake toppers are gorgeous - I remember seeing someone who'd even added the cat to their cake as part of one.
