There are different types of depression.
Clinical, endogenous depression, that naturally comes from within with no external trigger, requires drugs to 'cure' it. Possibly lifelong drugs.
Why are you telling me this?
I know this.
All I stated was that many people DO completely recover from depression. Im genuinely failing to see whats so contentious, to you (or in fact anyone) about that statement. You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

Yes, Pipkin, I think AB is floundering, especially now he can't log on as Space Donkey in order to agree with himself and post nasty jokes at the expense of people who are vulnerable.0 -
I said there was no cure, which isn't incorrect. Or perhaps these two recognised websites have just got it all wrong?

You can manage it though and learn how to deal with it so that it doesn't reoccur. Some people would perhaps consider that they are cured because they have done this and their depression hasn't yet returned. It may return and it may not but it doesn't mean you are "cured". You perhaps see the meaning of a "cure" in a different way to me and willa, vik6525, so theres no point arguing about it really.0 -

Um, hun. Your first link states that HALF of the people with depression will then go on to have another depressive incident within 10 years yeah?
Which means half will not.
Depression isnt this 'all encompassing' illness from which there is no return. You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

I didn't say it was. I just said there wasn't a "cure". You have to learn to manage it and how you do this can be different for everyone. Some people will manage to do this forever and never suffer with depression ever again and some people will find it returns. Just because some people don't have a return of depression doesn't mean they are cured.
As it says on the dbsalliance:
"Q: Is there a cure?
A: No, there's not yet a cure for depression or bipolar disorder. But research is underway to determine the exact cause of these illnesses, to develop better treatments and eventually a cure."0 -

Ok then....
You said on the other thread, that you're having tests and if they prove positive, whatever it is that is wrong, can cause depression. If you get treated for that, would you then consider yourself cured? You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

I honestly can't say until it happens. It may be just a coincidence that I have depression and this other condition. If my depression goes after treating the other condition then it will mean I didn't have depression in the way that other people do anyway. It will mean that it was simply a symptom of something else. Therefore, for people with depression that they can't attribute to something else, there is no cure.0 -

Totally agree that people can recover from depression, Vik.
