Who was limiting it to CBT.
I am sorry you believe there is no cure because many people do get cured Fact.

There is no "cure". You can learn to manage it, however, which is a different thing.

http://www.dbsalliance.org/site/PageServer?pagename=FAQ (Click where it says "is there a cure?")

The NHS talk about the different therapies and treatments for depression as being able to help but not "cure." as shown here:

    http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Depression/Pages/Treatment.aspx

You will see on the left it states:

"You can make a full recovery with treatment, but there is a risk that your depression will return. About half of the people who have a first episode of depression will have another episode within 10 years."

If you are at risk of your depression returning then you are not cured. If you were cured there would be no more risk to a former depressed person than for anyone who has never been depressed.

Therefore "many people do get cured Fact" is incorrect.

CBT is very useful for dealing with depression.

You are right. There are many different therapies for dealing with depression. None of them will actually "cure" it though.

A GP once told me with conviction, years ago, that after I had spent a while on ssri's, that my depression would never return again. He was wrong.
My depression is chemical, a serotonin deficiency, and I will probably have to take medication for the rest of my life. Just as a person with type 1 diabetes relies on insulin.
But I am sure AB will look down on all this as an inferior method of dealing with depression, next to his own mysterious ways.

Do you know how serotonin is made? I guess you think you have no part in the symptoms:rotfl:
How often are your serotonin levels tested

Im sorry. But you're incorrect. Many people DO get cured. And it IS a fact. No one said 'EVERYONE gets cured' or 'NO ONE gets cured'

    They said 'many people'.

    And thats true.
You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

Ooh intriguing.., but I'm sure you have no intention of elaborating, preferring instead to take the *iss and talk down.
I've never had my serotonin levels tested, such tests are not offered by NHS docs, a low serotonin level is clinically evident to the doctor and experientially evident to the patient. I have absolutely no clue what you're driving at with that question and I'm not sure you have a clue either.
