I thought I'd join this thread, since I hope by my admission I can get through yet another bad patch. I've suffered from *depression* for the last five years and every year there comes a low point. Though this year it seems to be particularly bad, I've never contemplated suicide before but this year I feel/see it as an option. I read the suicide thread with great interest (I didnt post it) and I could relate alot to the OPs feelings. I dont have a GP at the moment but I'm tempted to do something drastic to see what help I can get via A&E/crisis, I'm having trouble seeing the silver lining this time.

Welcome and feel free to join in. All views are taken so do not be afreaid to post what you think.
This is not unususl but you need to try and think what your mind is protecting you from whether that be an unhealthy relationship or a bully at work or something in your environment or perhaps the stress of having to be someone different for someone else. There will be one somewhere.
Who I am is not important. What I do is.
  • Hi everyone this is my first post here so please be gentle. I have been suffering from depression for many years and also had alchohol problems. I have recently got off the booze and am feeling much better now I want to get off the fags and ADs. Can you all help me?
  • Hello :)

I post on the fashion threads about what I've been wearing because it's fun! One of the things that helps me deal with my depression and low self esteem is literally putting on a brave face. By wearing nice clothes and make-up it makes me feel better and reminds me that I am worthy of my time and effort. Posting about it on the internet reinforces those feelings for me. Also, it's nice to focus on frippery sometimes, life is often so serious.

Perhaps some people would like to go on the old style board and tell them they shouldn't be posting about what they've cooked/eaten because you can't see, smell or taste it through the forum as well - I'm sure they'd love that :)

    (joking, please don't take offence!)
  • Hi Emerald eyes and Fairy. This thread is for positive experiences about things that make you feel better so post away and feel welcome. We may not always agree here but at least we disagree nicely and politely:rotfl:

thanks to La-cara who sent me a message today just asking how I was, it reminded me I should just post on here and let everyone know I'm still around and okay.

starting 2010 with a full time job, some mornings are still difficult but compared to 2007 2008 and 2009 I feel this is going to be a good year.

thanks to all of you who have supported me through the difficult times.

    all the best Sssssss.

    Hello Emerald Eyes,

I have only just found this thread and I haven't read through it yet. I just wanted to wish you well and tell you how wonderful you are for resisting the booze. I am sure you will be able to do the same with the evil weed and ads too. My dh suffers with depression and has a drink problem and I know how hard life is for him. I wish I could help but I often feel powerless to do so. Take care and I wish you all the best.

absolutebounder you're living in lala land.
I wonder if you think that people can 'think' their way out of bipolar disorder for example?
And if your answer to that is 'no', as it should be, then why do you think that your cbt/nlp advice is suitable for those suffering from unipolar depression?
And if the above is not 'positive' or 'polite' enough for you then you need to look at why that is, in terms of your own mind.
