Evening :hello: Well I have spent most of the day in the kitchen and dining room, and have totally blitzed both rooms. DH has a few days off, so he has been able to amuse the children, allowing me to catch up with some jobs that need doing at home. Quillion - I just read that you had been baking some cupcakes. I just wondered if you, or any of the other flyladies might be able to help me. I went out recently for coffee and cake with a friend. I had a cupcake that had a thick and creamy soft topping that had little peaks. It was so lovely but I don't know the name of that sort of icing/topping. I have been looking through some cookery books, with no luck. If anyone can help I would be really grateful :D
Toots - I have completed all of today's list
I am heading to bed in a bit. Sweet dreams everyone and I will catch up with you all tomorrow xxx

Do I have permission to talk about non-flying stuff? I'm assuming you're going to say yes, so I shall!

When I lived away from home a few years ago I was really good mates with a girl I met when I was working. We got on really well, but then we had a big falling out assisted by another girl but basically she showed her true colours (in my opinion). She was a right ***** to me and I didn't speak to her for about 5 years. She caught up with me on facebook a while ago and we've been sort of chatting, but things have never been the same as they were before. She was down this way a couple of months back visiting another friend and she made me feel guilty enough to say that she and her partner could come over for coffee. And it was pleasant enough I guess. well now she wants to come and meet Jonathan (which is fine, I guess) but she has now asked whether they can stay with us. I've said that we don't have a usable spare room at the moment because the house has been taken over by the baby (which is true) so I suggested a local travelodge and this is the reply I get....
"could do - but recession being what it is, petrol is about all we can stretch to at the moment
just thought our visit last time was a bit stunted
not to worry. just thought it would be nice to actually spend some time together"

Now is it just me or is that one of the biggest guilt trips of all time? Am I just being selfish not wanting to put myself out for her? Am I just being a bit of a cow?!

well i know i haven't been on much today but have done all lists so far:j:j.

Think that's where I'm going wrong - TOO much time on here checking what everyone else is up to rather than actually doing.

Not sure how I will cope when I am back at school - got lots of time at the moment and still surrounded by clutter. The bin men are going to wonder what I have been up to this week - usually one swing bin bag (and recycling) and after two days of flying I have 4 bin bags - and haven't even started on the clutter in the living room!
Proud to be dealing with my debts

Thank you all for your good wishes.

AbbieB - the topping may have been a cream cheese frosting. Beat cream cheese until soft, then add in icing sugar until you get the consistency you want. Add flavourings/colourings as desired. I have to admit I use this in place of all sorts of complicated frostings as it is so easy, and delicious! If they were chocolate, it may well have been melted chocolate and soured cream.

SS - glad to hear you're enjoying your holiday. Have you been over to the island on the sea tractor yet? I'm sure the girls will love it! You can walk up to the ruin on the top of the island (ignore it if they try to convince you its private property, it's a public right of way!). Get yourself a copy of Agatha Christie's 'Evil Under the Sun' which is set in on the island!

Jennybee - you're being perfectly reasonable. As with any relationship you need to take things slowly, and its a bit soon to be having her in the house, especially when you've got a new baby. Tell her you'd love to see her (whether it's true or not), but given that you're still working out how the baby works and that you're short of space, you're not in a position to have people to stay. If she's reasonable she'll understand. If she isn't, then you were right about her last time.

Off to finish the washing up, open the DW (can't be bothered to empty it) and pack my clothes up for tomorrow (I really want to try to go for a swim in the morning, despite the fact I'm so tired)
