Now is it just me or is that one of the biggest guilt trips of all time? Am I just being selfish not wanting to put myself out for her? Am I just being a bit of a cow?!

You are absolutely not being selfish - she is!

I had problems with a 'friend' last year - having known her over 20 years I realised that she didn't make me feel good about myself and in many ways used me (long story which I won't bore you with now) and I gave myself such a hard time over it.

In the end I called an end to our friendship as it was making me unhappy and last month when it was my 'big' birthday she sent me a card and a letter which really upset me. It was my dd (18 and wise beyond her years) who said the problem was my friend and not me, and it was only because I am such a nice person (dd said that not me) that I felt so bad.

You have done the right thing and dont feel bad about it. If she really wanted to make things better she would be suggesting spending time with you but not inviting herself to stay.

    Who needs 'friends' like that?
Proud to be dealing with my debts

I am in shock that shw could suggest that tbh I mean after all that has happened and it was an ok lunch but to ask to stay because they can't simply afford it is really takin the biscuit !!
I hope that it gets sorted and you don't get swooped into the guilt x

Step away from that thought right now! You are NOT being selfish. You are NOT being a cow. You don't have the room to put them up. And you don't have to put them up even if you did have the room if YOU DON'T WANT TO.

Jennybee, I don't think you're being selfish. I would have said something very similar myself.

I have just seen an advert on the telly for a cd of housework songs! Is there nothing they won't try to make money from??

Saying that my girls just said they'd buy it for me :rotfl:

Pigpen, at least it sounds like GF will get some help then. Perhaps they feel as she doesn’t have a good parent she didn’t learn any parenting skills from her mum and maybe they are going to help her. I hope so anyway. I think you are the best person to teach her personally!
Dusty, your DS sounds sweet! The safe/plug thing sounds cool, I want one! Am very impressed that your boys read books, so many kids these days seem to spend all their time on the PC/TV/PS2 etc that they never read! I love reading!

Toochoosy, vinegar gets rid of the smell of rabbits wee, not sure if it works with human wee? Just use a little bit or else you will smell vinegar for ages! Really hope your back gets better soon, sounds really painful

Hugs Wendy, hope your ex leaves you alone!

    Soappie your garden sounds great!

    What is eyebrow threading?

Toots, am glad you know you know more about your treatment, will be thinking of you every day at 3. Are you going to have a break from the thread while you are having your treatment? Big hugs for you

Soappie, your recipe sounds lovely! Well done for helping Toots!

Well done Boddy on the weight loss. Don’t let the silly woman get to you! She’s just jealous!

I’m getting a bit confused about what I’ve got to read. I think I finished on p.16 last time, so got to read p.17-30 and then p.35 onwards. Not sure if I will be able to catch up to be honest. Might just try to keep up from where we are!

Greenbee ~ Sending get well wishes to your Mum....my children laugh at me because they know the first thing I say when we come home is " wash your hands," it just seems to me to be a simple and easily taken precaution.

Toots ~ Glad you enjoyed your meal, it did sound very yummy, hope you are managing to have a de-stress and relax this evening.

JennyBee ~ think you are being totally reasonable. Four years ago, an old friend of mine got in touch and asked to come and stay with her new boyfriend, I wasn't comfortable with it, but said yes...it was awful simply awful and it ruined our friendship. I think you are right to have some boundaries here and to babystep making friends again.

She is a fabulous mum to Jacob!

He is 9 weeks old and she is doing fabulously well given the hassle this SW is giving her. Jacob is thriving and now she is being supervised feeding and changing him.. it is ludicrous.

she practically raised her brother and sister that are 4 this month and it is like she is being punished because her mother is rubbish.. yet her mother has no involvement with the little ones.
