thriftykatie - Sounds like the same person - this one has a habit of writing letters that make me feel like an awful person!

clarissa - thanks - I have to say that I won't be inviting them to stay. Not least because I live next door to my parents and they've never forgiven her so wouldn't be too happy about it!

well now she wants to come and meet Jonathan (which is fine, I guess) but she has now asked whether they can stay with us. I've said that we don't have a usable spare room at the moment because the house has been taken over by the baby (which is true) so I suggested a local travelodge and this is the reply I get....
"could do - but recession being what it is, petrol is about all we can stretch to at the moment just thought our visit last time was a bit stunted not to worry. just thought it would be nice to actually spend some time together"?!
Hi Jenny! OMG can't believe she said that! Basically sounds like she is using you.. how rude. You are not at fault! A friend of my OH wanted to come visit to do a clinical trial near us to earn some money, and stay with us for a month while he did that! And visit other people while he was up here... basically use us as a free hotel like you friend wanted to.

You are in the right :D

My back/side seems to be easing a little now, Thanks, the only poblem is that when it's ok, I forget and move too quickly and I remember, rather painfully!!!!

I'm liking the new pretty turquoise bits around the edges of the thread. Dyou think they're easing changes in gradually?

3tabby it's been gorgeous. Think it's going to be miserable tomorrow though.... ahh well, can't grumble. It's been a fantastic week.

Greenbee we sat on the beach watching the tractor on Sunday, but the tide's been wrong for us to be able go on it since then. But nonetheless sitting on the beach is a remarkable thing in April! We walked through Ringmore yesterday, lunched at Journey's End Inn, and walked down to the cove beyond Ringmore. Stunning. My Stepmum and I are plotting a 2 week break here next summer. Although, that will involve saving pennies.... this house costs £1500 pw in high season!!:eek:

It's fabulous, and really makes up for last summer's nightmare holiday.

One of the reasons for coming here was to meet family I haven't seen for 30 years. It's been really lovely, and we're seeing my cousins again tomorrow. Plus, my brother lives nearby, so we've seen him and [STRIKE]his wife [/STRIKE] sorry my SIL  still trying to get used to that. :p

We all wish we were here for longer...except of course DD1 who is doing her best to imitate Kevin The Teenager!!

Boddy what a jealous mare. I hate hate hate people like that. B!tch! I hope you feel better now, and can ignore her henceforth. Toots' advice was fab :D

Jennybee it's not you, it's her. She's being unreasonable., and trying to bludgeon you into letting her stay... not a friend. Just say, "oh, what a shame. Never mind, we'll just have to get together another time." ;) Good luck.

ETA - SS... I might be able to come up with some other options for high season (personally I loathe it, but I guess if you've got to stick to the school holidays you've got no choice - I love it at Easter, May/June, Sept/Oct). Glad your having a lovely time... maybe I'll see you down there next year!
