I took out two of these in 1997, one for me and one for my husband. Started off paying £10 a month that went up in stages to £20 a month.

My life insurance part was refused and I was not covered for life insurance for the first seven years of the policy. Does this mean they invested the whole premium as they were not paying the life insurance bit?

I think it may be worth just hanging on until 2012 rather than surrendering them now?

  • Help!!!

Hi, I have come accross this thread and many others having learn't that the AXA Cash builder plan is not what i thought!

Me, my mum and two brothers thought this looked good back in Feb 2002.

Would we be able to reclaim our premiums?

Please could anyone advise me on best way to go about reclaming our premiums + interest and send me a template letter?

Also any ideas on how much i may get back?
Started on £15pm, now pay £30pm, worked out i've paid in £1980 and recieved £90 at end of 1st year. I think it matures in 2017. I am going to ring them tonight to get more info. on how much I will get if I cash in now.

Can anyone help? Can some one PM me the letter that I can use as they were bought in 2002 for me and 2003 for my mum?

    Thanks

I wanted to thank both wishicouldaffordit and Kara-archie for the template of the letter to Axa regarding policies taken out in 2002.

I rang AXA today, she was a very nice english lady. She said my surrender value was £2217. So far for 8 years & 5 months, starting off with £15 per month I have paid in £2490.

I'm still pondering and wondering if i'm doing the right thing but I think I have thought about it enough.

Hopefully it will be good news but we'll see.

    See ya for now.....

  • Carrying on from my post 2 weeks ago......

I sent the famous letter back to AXA on 16th July. Today (2 weeks later) I have recieved a reply :j, offering: -
    • My premiums paid to date (minus the 1/2 1st year - £90)
    • Plus Interest at Bank of England base rate + 1%, less tax at 20%.
Firstly, I am pleased that they have offered me my premiums back :), but I do feel that the interest rate is pretty rubbish compared to what it has been over the past 8 years, should I just accept this?

Also, there were £456.45 in Total bonuses that were listed in my latest certificate. Does anyone know if this is taken off you if you cash the premium in.

I have now got to sign this form and return it. Anyones help is very much appreciated.

One more question....My brother took 2 of these out. One in 2001 and one in 2005 :(. What is the next step for him to try and get as much as he can back from them. He has got lots of the old paperwork from the notoriuos 2002-2003 period that he got sent. Does that help him?

    Thank you

    Kind regards

base rate plus 1% seems fair.

If you are asking for the policy to be voided, which you are, then the bonuses are voided as well.

it doesnt help him as he didnt take one out during that period. He can complain but he will be reliant on their goodwill.

  • Hi

I was wondering if someone could assist me, a little confused?

I have a Providerplus Plan with Axa Sunlife taken out 8th Jan 2002. I have just called and they have offered me £1574.91 broken down..... lump sum including bonus £1470.21 + interim bonus £104.70.

My calculations as follows so far I have paid into the fund £1720 + bonuses of £275.63 (2006 bonus not included as I don't have the paper work. AXA said they couldn't confirm it over the phone, but would sent it out.)

Do I fall in the period were I could get all my funds back including bonus, should I be writing to them?

Anyone's help would be most appreciated.

    MissR
