Hi, I took out one of these policies in Aug 2003 now paying £20 p/m(started off on £10 p/m).

Does anyone have a template letter so I could possibly reclaim the monies paid in, will then look at putting it into something better.

    Thanks in advance.

    Update:

Just phoned them up and queried what I would get back if surrendering policy. Paid in £1680 would get back £1470. Then told him that I would like to claim all premiums back plus interest as Was taken out 14th August 2003 and he has raised the complaint for me. Was told to recieve acknowledgment of complaint within 5 days and final response in 4 weeks.

Lets wait and see what happens.

Can someone pls send me the template as I would like to surrender the policy I started in 2003.

The surrender value I have been given is less than the premium I have paid.

Depends on risk profile, knowledge, experience, how and where you buy the investments, tax position, timescale, objective and amounts involved.

I have a cash builder that matures in June 2012 taken out in 1997 , have bonuses of about £700 (as of 2010) initial payment £10 then increased to £20 in yearly stages ( £12>£14>£16>£18) .

As of this month I have paid in £3060 (less £60 cashback 1st year) if I stay till the end I will have paid in another £180 taking it to £3240 (less the £60)

If I surrender before next payment due I will need more than £3000 to break even ( ie what i have paid in) , cashing in now will save me £180 (9x£20)

My question is if I surrender now do I lose any maturity/ termination bonus

I have also read there was some sort of 15% redistribution bonus I assume when Sun Life became Sun AXA, I can't see this mentioned on my annual statement or is it now included in my total bonuses

Hi not so new to this site but I lurk in the background a lot.

Yes got suckered in years ago by the ads for Sun Life Cashbuilder - we have 2 policies one £100 a month and the other £75 a month - I checked earlier this year the surrender value and as they mature in 2014 we didn't feel it worth surrendering due to the bonuses? Whether this is right, not 100% sure?

However my question is can I claim back from AXA as a mis sold endowment as they are endowments really - both young and foolish and no idea of money when we took them out. Just grasping at straws needing bit of cash as is everyone!

If anyone knows the reply it would be very appreciated.
  • Hi Everybody,

I've decided to put up a copy of my letter template send to AXA Sun Life, photos of all the letters from AXA Sun Life send to me, showing the links that I've found out while I was researching on the Internet to make up my letter in Microsoft Word Format and my AXA Sun Life story all onto 1 link from my web site - http://www.jonathanen.com/pages/AXA/AXA.htm

    Regards,
    Jonathan.
