Regarding the training, if the training was good ,they would have the skills to make the customer feel comfortable.
I am entitled to an opinion, and how do you know what sort of training counter staff have?To be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -
Your comment was 'they should have good training and support' My question is how do you know if they do (or don't)? Incidentally, I have spent a long time working in the banking industry (although I don't now) and have close family working there as well.Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0

I had a hell of an argument with a customer not long ago because he wanted a large withdrawal without notice and refused to believe me that we did not carry the amount he required spare.
We arranged bits of cash here and there and at branches along the way to the dealer only for him to be turned away there because they would not accept such a large amount of cash! So he had to toddle off back to the nearest branch he could find and pay the money back and buy a bankers cheque.
I always honk at the p***k whenever I see him now!To be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -

I don't think the last line was in any of the training manuals I ever saw :rotfl: but the rest of the comment is pretty sound advice and seems to have been proved right by subsequent events.Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0

Getting back to the OP, ithas been mentioned already but I am very surprised that a garage is open to being paid £10,000 in cash. The preferred payment is normally by debit card. It will be referred but that is simply a case of the salesman calling the number on the card machine, he tells them a few things then you are given the phone and usually asked to tell them something like. "apart from usual direct debits ie c tax gas elec, can you name another payment from your account" usually this will be Barnados or your brother you borrowed money off 5 years ago! They may ask what dates certain things go into your account too.
The money laundering legislation only allowed us to take £9,999.99 when I was selling cars and, quite frankly, cash of large amounts is more of a liability.
If you have a credit card that attracts air miles or similar points then why not use that to pay for the car. Then pay off the card from your account. Check with the Dealer first on this one though, some will apply a surcharge to cover their retailer percentage.
Another option is to chat for so long to the salesman as you pick up your car that he forgets to ask for payment. Seriously, this nearly happened to me and did happen to one of my colleagues. The customer came back an hour later saying "theres a problem with my car" My colleague's face was a picture when the customer went into his wallet and took out his card.0 -
