I had a hell of an argument with a customer not long ago because he wanted a large withdrawal without notice and refused to believe me that we did not carry the amount he required spare.
We arranged bits of cash here and there and at branches along the way to the dealer only for him to be turned away there because they would not accept such a large amount of cash! So he had to toddle off back to the nearest branch he could find and pay the money back and buy a bankers cheque.
I always honk at the p***k whenever I see him now!To be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -

Most banks actually state in their terms and conditions about neededin extra ID and being asked security questions at point of withdrawal for such sums, and a file kept.
I was a cashier, I am not now, but I still do work in a bank. This week the financial crime department contacted us to find a withdrawal voucher from 5 years ago.
If we hadn't kept it, we wouldn't be able to assist. Its the rules we have to abide by.0 -
The rule at the RBS is that if you draw £1000 or above out you need ID photo-copied ,but if you draw £999 ,that is OK ,how ridiculous is thatTo be happy you need to make someone happy.0

It's the same with Natwest; they have to set a threshold somewhere. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

The Barclay card £100 loop hole was the catalyst, I needed to withdraw £1000 from my RBS current account and move it to my new Barclays current account for the T/Cs,the problem was the leaflet in the branch did not state that the ID would be photo-copied,I did actually draw £999 out ,and complete the transaction.I have been assured that new leaflets have been printed, has any one seen them, does it confirm the photo copy part of the procedure, being made aware is essential. To be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -

kenshaw, you hate bank workers ok - but some people on here do work in finance, but it doesn't mean that we agree with everything the banks do ok, so please do not judge us for it0 -
