Well I am perusing the argos catalogue. I have two suitcases but the exboyfriend was rough with them and the wheels came off...and then he dumped me two days later on holiday. Grrrrrr
Anyhoo,
please bear with me I don't travel much so...
I am going to take clothes (lots well not lots but I'll need a fair few if its hot as I might get um sweaty). Then cameras, two laptops and shoes. So I more than likely will need two or 3 suitcases and if its like last time when I just went skiing, I had 1 heavier than meant to be bag...
So what do I do, can you purchase extra weight? TRAVEL NIGHTMARES!
I'm still trying to get to grips with spanish employment lawMoney money money.

You can pay excess baggage charges, but a lot of airline staff will turn a blind eye to excess weight when you check in if you explain you are moving abroad (and smile sweetly!)

Or check the airlines to find out who has the most generous baggage allowance. So that's not Ryanair then, who rigorously impose the 15 kg limit and charge a lot if you go over. Having said that, you have to balance it against the acutal cost of the flight.:idea:0

I think I'd end up with like 20 kilos too much LOLMoney money money.

Have just asked a mate who used to live in Barcalona. He said you should look on 'living abroad' or 'in Spain' websites for info about NI numbers etc. He said it's all very easy.:idea:0

Lol, probably, but you really won't find first class on Ryanair, unless there's a special business class category where you get a free bag of gin and trip to the loo.:rotfl::idea:0 -

Nice one! The best thing any furute employer could wish for is someone who has lived life and experienced another country. it will improve your job prospects in the future. Bets of luck. I left NZ when I was in my mid 20's and 11 years later I am still here now married with kids and loving my life. Take the chane - you never know what might happen.
Oh...shucks...that was that "cat let outa the bag" - ie that you never know O.P. might just like things so much that she finds an "added attraction" over there....ie a man that encourages her never to come back again;)- and there was me not mentioning that one...

A practical point here.....do make sure that you have the relevant Government "thingie" to be able to get access to the reciprocal health care arrangement Britain has with certain countries (including Spain if I am correct). One used to have to fill out an E111 form for this - not sure what its called these days. I'm a bit vague on this - but I think I got the form from the Post Office.
Anyways - just go into a Post Office and say "I need to be covered for my health care in another E.U. country - can I have the relevant form to fill in please. I know it used to be called an E111 - dont know what its called now" and they should know and point you in the right direction.
I guess you might have this European Health Card (whatever its called these days???) already from having had foreign holidays abroad?? Just a thought.
Believe me - a spell abroad will help you noticeably personally - you will find you have more confidence in your ability to cope with things and gain an insight into living in a different Society to ours (but - being another European country - it wont be vastly different to ours).
So - thats your checklist:
- officially inform ex-employers of the fact you are resigning
- tell firms you owe money to your new address and that you will be continuing with payments due
- rehome your kitten
- buy that suitcase
- make sure you are covered for that reciprocal health care (just in case....)0
