think she means doesn't have to pay for board and lodgings, therefore any income earned is just bills (debts) and 'fun money'. Abby has stated in previous posts she will continue to pay of her debts whilst abroad

    Yes.
I do not have to pay for any living expenses or Travel or French Lessons.
I have £800 from my wages in my bank account of which a fair amount is to be set aside for an emergency eg having to fly back to England. The other £400 is for whatever happens. I have to buy some shoes but not much else. the other £400 from my wages that I have spent has gone towards debt repayment.
    Money money money.

Bonjour abby, and well done indeed.

Get your employers to write a letter to the bank.

I am assuming you are now an au pair, living with a french family?

If so, tell the parents that you need a french bank account, and ask if they could write a letter that you could take into the bank confirming that you live at their address and work for them.

    abby,

Put you past behind you, and enjoy your present.

Have you met any other au pairs yet? Anyone to go for a coffee with?

Abby, sign up to the expats website that I mentioned in an earlier post www.britishexpats.com They have a very useful forum with a french section. You will find loads of useful information there and may even find other expats living in Paris to meet up with. Whatever you do, make sure you meet up with people, even if it's just for coffee and they're French and you struggle with the language. An AuPairs life can be lonely without some outside contacts and friends and I'm sure the sooner you can get these the easier it will be to feel 'at home'.
