Is this the Managing Director of the job where you were badly treated? Im sort of losing the thread here: I thought you had walked away from that job and not told them where you were or anything, but you are actually staying with the Managing Directors mother? So are you still in the job or not?0

I walked back to it because they persuaded me! And I couldn't spend a month without a jobMoney money money.

Tonight I am sitting at my temporary desk. Surrounded by things (about 30 items) to send to ebay customers. I think I want to get all this done now that way I can trudge down the road in the morning with my suitcase to take to the charity shop. Anything that hasn't sold is going to a better place. I spoke to some people on the forum about travel and I've decided that even though it takes 18 hours, national express at less than £55 (sectioning the route = cheaper tickets) is worth the hours.
I just have to get round the disappearing from my MD mothers house on Monday morning as I really think it will slightly upset her. If I was still in my flat it would be easierMoney money money.

If you can't speak with her face to face, leave a note. Explain that you have this opportunity that you need to grab with both hands. Explain that you are young, have no commitments, and just need to, 'seize the day', and pursue your dreams and adventures while you can. She will understand!

Now - I'm getting confused.
You are staying in the flat of your Managing Director's mother (as in M.D. of that "awful" job) and you say that if you go to Paris you wont be able to repay your debts.
Well - with these two new facts in the equation - I've turned round and headed back the way I came. If the firm are that caring that the M.D.'s mother is putting you up - then I would say it rates as a pretty good job actually - not one to dive out of as soon as possible.
Add the obligations to other people (ie the debts). The first and foremost priority has to be to fulfil your responsibilities to other people. It would be the responsible/mature thing to do to ensure that other people dont suffer from you continuing to owe money to them. You had said previously that you would continue to pay your debts if you went and worked abroad - on that basis, I was urging you to go. If indeed it is the case that debts would NOT be repaid as due if you went abroad - then you cant possibly go abroad UNTIL those debts have been repaid.
There are times when one's obligations to other people come first. From what you said originally - there did not appear to be any clash between your wishes and your responsibilities. It now looks - from what you have just said - as if there is a clash there and other people would be let down if you went abroad now.
So - I would say - if you really really want to go abroad - then do so - but only once you have ensured that other people have had the debts to them repaid.
BTW - dont forget to factor into your finances a nice present to MD's mother as a "thank you" for putting you up in her flat.0 -

But then again - she might not...
The obligations to this kind person are to do a reasonable share of the housework/cover the extra expenses from staying there/say a big "Thank you" face to face to her for putting O.P. up and give her a reasonable size "thank you" present for having done so (eg a large bouquet of flowers from Interflora or a good-quality meal out or similar).0 -
I have given her a thank you card and I am being inbelievably tidy!
I'm now trying to sort out getting to Paris...everything is booked and flights are expennnnsiveMoney money money.

Hi abby, just read it all from the 2nd page when I last posted.
Did you sort out the car problem? I don't know if I'm making this up but thought it said you lived in Kendal, I live in Carlisle, so if you are wanting to get rid of the car still, PM me. My OH would love that!
Good luck, the journey from what I remember when I went to germany with school, isn't that bad as long as you have a few magazines and some kind of mp3 player!

The way things are going you will still be in the uk 6 months from now and still saying the same things. You need to actually do something and be positive instead and go.Maybe deep down you do not wish to go and instead enjoy the plaudits on here. All the information you give on this thread is confusing as you contradict yourself many times.0

Hi,
You should speak to my sister Sarah ... she did exactly what you are planning to do - went to Paris & became an au-pair - hard work, but I think she enjoyed it!!
Funnily enough she lives in Kendal!!!
