Work have tracked my flatmate down at the hospital to find out if I am okay.
She wants me to phone them.

    I don't want to :(
I feel like I've let the girls in the office down,
Should I email or post a letter?

Abby, you'll be okay. Email, or phone, but very kindly state the real reason why you are leaving.

    You're doing great!
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

I just wanted to say "good luck"! It definitely sounds like you've done the right thing. The longer you stay in a job where they treat you like ****, the more trapped and demotivated you'll feel.

In a few years, you'll look back and realise (if you don't already) that this hasn't put a black mark on your CV forever!

i thought you were going to email them first thing?
i would email them asap it isnt fair for your flatmate to be hassled at work.
you can leave the flat whenever you want, you arent under house arrest!

eta: you have done the best thing as you sound terrified of your colleagues!

I can understand you worrying, my daughter thought her ex-employers would send the police after her because she walked, she realises now how daft that notion was, but it was very real to her at the time

don't feel bad, that place & the people in it are no longer a part of your life, you're moving on, put them behind you, forget them, it'll get easier with time, & distance :)

make yourself go out, even just for a pint of milk, it'll help 'break the spell'

Just remember that there's nothing that work can do to you now. It's understandable that you feel sick right now, but you are free to live life as you wish and not put up with any crap. You don't even have to explain or justify yourself to them, other than to say that you quit. You don't owe them anything.

Even if you meet your boss in the street, what can he do? He can't force you to work for him, he can't report you to the police, he can't attack you... he has no power over you at all.

Personally, I would send them a short email saying that regretfully you've quit with immediate effect (just so they know) and be done with it. Once you've done that... you wil never ever have to think or worry about this job again. That's the end of it... and the start of your happier life, hopefully.

Hope this helps, and once again GOOD LUCK!

Just email the office. Can you email the other girls you work with and explain all the hassles you had been having and tell them you are NOT coming back. Send the email and then go out and buy your suitcase!

    Great for you!

I was in a similar situation, although working my notice. I broke down in tears from another rude comment, went to HR and they were furious with my department...on their advice, I cleared my desk and told my manager I was going home...I didn't give him a chance to reply and walked straight out the building...WOW the relief I had leaving that place!

Maybe you should post in the travel forum to see if anyone can find you a cheap flight? Good luck!!!
