Hi everyone, the post man finally came today and i got my DRO pack from National Debt Line,

    The pack contained,

    1. Income/ expenditure and assets form to complete.
    2. Forms for full details of all creditors.
    3. Form to be completed for Experian, so National debt line can obtain credit file.
    4. Need to send bank statement or letters to confirm benefit payments and amounts.
    5. Need to sign DRO letter confirming I understand what it is and that I am eligible.
also asks for an explanation of how i got into this situation.

I haven't recieved my barcode to pay the £90.00 yet, not sure if this is to come soon or after they have recieved all my forms back.

I have been busy filling in forms, just need to try and write my explanation now.

HI Dizzy.....hope you are doing OK.

Thanks for details of the pack....keep us informed. New process & I have a relative who may qualify ( pension value permitting!!)

    Take care, Angex
  • I can't sleep, I thought when i recieved the information pack to fill in i would feel slightly better, but i feel worse than ever, having to get all those nasty letters out the drawer and open them to get address details etc for forms, was horrible, i felt so sick and stupid for getting into this mess, but i never thought i was in a mess, i have been in this mess so long it felt normal, does that make sense, I have had a false smile on my face all day for the kids sake, but now its late they are in bed and i'm here trying to finish the forms because i cant sleep, filling in the list of debts felt like i was announcing to the world what a stupid person i have been, and trying to explain how i got myself into this mess is even worse, how do i briefly say what a huge giant enormous mistake i have made. the words keep going round and round but never get to the end. sorry for blabing on, just have no one else to talk to apart from you guys.
  • Welcome to the world of an insolvent Dizzymum, its not easy is it?

But the past is the past, you cant change it, so stop trying, take my word for it, i did the same and it is not possible

You did the best for you and your kids at the time

In the grand scheme of things no one will care (except us) your just another name on another bit of paper to the creditors so stop beating yourself up over it.

The banks and creditors dont care that your a human being with feelings, your just a number on a ballence sheet

Thats how you need to see it to deal with it, the creditors will get there money in other ways, writing it of against tax etc

Just look after you and yours, and forget the guilt, they dont deserve it, in fact if they where human, the creditors i mean, it is them that should feel guilty for being so greedy;)
Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(

I know exactly how you feel....I have spent mnths trying to rationalise the whole situation & it just makes you feel worse .

The truth is that you are doing something now to sort it out & then to enable you to move on.

Whats `past` is....well just that ...past ! Be honest & say what you feel. If you want to put the reason why statement on here we will look at it for you if you want.

As for opening the letters....I know that feeling too.....I have many unopened here too !!

    You are doing fine Sweetie.

Edit - Bat is too quick for me!!!

Hi, with regards to giving an explanation, that is a part of the form, but it really isn't that much of a big deal. We just need to select a reason from a drop down menu that that best fits your situation, so for example you lost your job, your relationship broke down, there was a significant reduction in household income, that kind of thing. You don't need an essay, just a couple of sentences will be enough.
  • Oh, and as to having to open up all the letters from banks etc, just try to stay positive and think that if everything goes to plan and you get your DRO, it should be the last time you ever have to look at them. :)

Yes dizzy i can relate to the "putting it down in black and white". When i did my SOA and did the debt section and then totaled it:eek:. Thought i had made a mistake with my maths:obut i haden't. I can laugh now but on the day in court i had done the totals wrong.....should have put a grand total on the SECOND page of debts not on EACH page. So the clerk amended it and said "is that right 42k":o:o:oeverybody in the room heard...wheres that hole when you want it. lol Just think you don't have to do any of that;).

PP is right it is the last time you will ever look at those letters:D. It is nice when you get some after the deed is done and you just carelessly throw them in the bin, very liberateing.Dx

Ps you are almost there now and doing so well,:A,just think how many you will be helping on here...that should give you the courage to see this through. Take care girl.Dx
