    Yes i am aware.

Still as mentioned b4 use free 240 mins 4 local off peak calls ,
    then use BT's £6.45 free call allowance(quarterly)
then back to talktalk for any additional calls.

It is easy to keep track of your bt call balance but not so with talktalk, but i don't use the phone excessively anyway.

  • Having just read the articule it would seem that talktalk70 would be my best choice.

On my current BT service I Have caller ID and distinctive ring as we use a seperate number on the same line for our home based business.

Does anyone know how they would paid for / affected by the change ?

PS this is my first post so if it's in the wrong place please for give me... ;D

Am currently on BT Together Option 1 (paying that £2/month for the 6p/hour off-peak calls) and would like to switch to TalkTalk so this facility becomes free. I have trawled through the options on the BT website and can't find one to opt out of all the BT Together 'options' and just pay the line rental (at £9.50/month by Direct Debit). Do I actually have to phone BT to do this? What number do I call? 150?

Hi Richard, all you have to do is call BT on the using the number on your bill. If they ask why you want to change, tell them your plans, and if they try to stop you, just ask if they are cheaper than Talktalk. They cannot tell you they are, because they are not.

    I work for Carphone Warehouse.

Im a student living in a 2 person flat. We both use the phone mainly to call home, which is long distance, and a few local calls. I gather that talktalk is generally the cheapest phone package, but can anyone recommend a cheap ISP? :-/How many internet hours do you need to clock up to make it worth getting a package rather than a pay as you go system? (if cost is too high for a package we'll use the uni computers)

My parents are also considering the package, but currently use bt's surftime (inc. internet 6pm-8am), is talk talk still cheaper once the same level of internet access is considered?

    thanks for your time

  • Cheap internet access, Hmmmm

    Try Fast4.net

Currently £6.99 but soon to go up to £8.99 for unlimited, anytime, dial up access to the internet.

    Now for the math,
Assuming that your internet access would only be 'off peak' ie evenings and weekends, and also assuming that most pay as you go dial up providers charge 1p per minute off peak then £ 8.99 equates to 899 minutes, this is just short of 15 hours.
So £8.99, paid to Fast 4, for unlimited, anytime access is pretty cheap.
A lot of assumptions I'm afraid but I hope that it helps.

Before you sign up you should check out the Fast 4 reviews on this site some of which are not good.

Try this link, its one of many about Fast 4

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=Telephone;action=display;num=1059310593;start=0#24

I would point out that I am a happy Fast 4 user and tend to use the internet only at busy times (evenings and weekends)

  • Switched from BT to Talkalk, can anyone confirm that I get some free minutes with the standard BT tariff £9.50 per month that I am on, reading previous posts it would seem that way but not sure enough to use them. Can anyone tell me how many minutes and if they are per month or per quarter. If I do get free minutes can I use them to any phone number and at any time. Thanks

??? I am really confused! I have just transfered to the one-tel anytime package with BT basic line rental. I tried to use an 091 over-ride number for Tele-discount in order to telephone a mobile and Qatar (as suggested by Martin). I could not get through on most occasions and when I telephoned one-tel they said they were trying to discourage people from using over-ride numbers through them and that I needed to dial 1280 and go through BT. They also said that I would be paying a premium rate amount by dialling an 091 number AND would also be charged at  BT's rate effectively making the call much more expensive than if I went through them. Is this true? What is the cheapest way to call a mobile in the UK and Qatar and surely it is up to me if I choose to over-ride the carrier - can they stop me doing this?.  Geraldine

    Hi Sylblake,

Yes you DO get an inclusive allowance with BT standard line rental (not with BT Together).

Here are the details on BT's price list.

    http://www.serviceview.bt.com/list/current/docs/Exch_Lines.boo/12641.htm

You can also sign up to see your BT bill on-line to keep track of how much you have spent.

You can see the cost of calls since your last bill as follows:

    Telephone number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
At the close of business on 21/9/2003
The cost of calls recorded on your number since your last bill was: £4.04

    Hope that helps.
