Conratulations shopaholic thats good news :)

I did not ask the dm that rang me if he was going to give me an award or not I darent go that far :) I wanted to though but didnt want to push my luck. I have been thinking since he rang and as usual getting myself worried about everything and anything. I'm not expecting anything to be honest I am so run down by it all.

I keep thinking about that he said 'all these things that you SAY you have' as though there might not be proof but I don't know whether its me worrying or making more of something but I guess I will soon find out. I feel sick with worry I could not do this again I know that.

Yours took 4 days from the phonecall then so maybe mine might come next week thats unless he decides to contact the hospital as I told him I had gone for 2 hospital appointments recently. I just don't think I'm going to get anything, I feel like I've done everything wrong and that I've missed important info out.

Thankyou for letting me know how yours went shopaholic it gives me some idea of the time length it could be before hearing
    Thanx

I just rang up to ask what stage my claim is at, she took my ni number to see and said it is being looked at at the moment but no decision made yet. That doesnt sound quite so good to me as he obviously couldnt come to a decision with the answers I gave him yesterday so he must be trying to get other advise or info to help him decide. I'm not holding my hopes up but I just could not do this again, not unless I got help from someone at least
    Thanx

Dont worry I got that the day before they paid money into the bank! Dont think they are allowed to tell you prior to the money being paid in. My letters always turn up about a week after the payment.

I applied in January for DLA. I really wanted the mobility component as I couldn't get a blue badge from my local council. They refused my application saying that they knew better than my GP whether I qualified or not and that I had to apply for mobility allowance in order to get one.
Within a couple of weeks the DLA turned me down on the grounds that I could walk more than 50 metres in a normal manner and could manage my daily needs without help.I rang them up straight away and asked them to send my application for reconsideration.I sent a letter telling them that they couldn't have looked at my MRI scan or written to my doctor in such a short time and restated that I couldn't walk that distance.
The DLA wrote back to say that they would send a doctor to my home to ask me questions and to examine me.The doctor was a very nice person and he seemed to understand about my mobility problems but I didn't know if he was asking me trick questions or not [how did I get out of bed, what were my hobbies, did I do my own gardening etc?]I had to get up from a laying down position and walk across the room.He checked my reflexes, blood pressure, listened to my heart and lungs. One of things that I did that may have helped my case was to make a list of what problems I had and how they affected me in my day to day living.I put it by the side of him and he was able to refer to it when he needed to.
After he had gone I felt very ill indeed,it must have been caused by all the stress that I have felt over the last few months.I only had to fight for DLA since January so how some of you have coped with your application that as been ongoing for a lot longer than mine I don't know.
I have been awarded higher rate mobility and lowest rate care component and I think that the most important thing is that someone believes that I am disabled when I say I am.
Good luck to everyone with their claim,I hope you will have a successful result too.

    Hi ladyk
I think some of the most important things to consider with DLA is to supply them with as much evidence as you can, if you give it to them, they dont have to go looking for it iyswim?
I sent them several letters from my consultant, copies of the report the dr did for my incapacity benefit, and i also joined benefits and work website, which is fantastic and takes you through the form step by step, helping you to fill it in.

I really hope you get a good result, but if you have any medical evidence to hand it always helps

I'm completely shocked, I just rang again to see what the status on my claim is and she told me on the phone that I have been awarded on reconsideration that I have an award of High rate care and High rate mobility. I'm totally floored how can it go from no rate at all to high rate on both? Its for 2 years I think to 2011. I'm really amazed at the moment because really it has not taken that long and I did not have any cab or welfare officer to help me. I applied for the form I think 16th Jan and I think she said that its until 16th Jan 2011 I was so shocked though that I didnt take it in. She said a payment has gone into my bank already for the backdated payments.

Do you think this will effect the incapacity benefit renewal ib50 that is still waiting? Should I tell them? I'm dreading if they say I have to go for a medical there.

I'm such a worrier though I'm worrying about having to re-apply in 2011 but thats the way I am.

By the way would I be able to get a blue badge? the one that allows you to park in disabled bays? an I guaranteed one as I'm on high rate mobility? I do not drive a car myself but it can be used in anyones car can't it so long as I'm in it?
    Thanx

I'm really pleased for you. After getting a successful result on Saturday morning I know how you feel and yes you can get a blue badge.I only applied for mine as my council wouldn't give me one unless I was in receipt of mobility allowance.
I hope that it will give hope to others claimants to carry on and not be put off by their first or second refusal.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Congratulations, I'm so pleased for you.

With the award of HRM you should get a blue badge without any further struggle. Click here for link. It doesn't matter whether you have a car or not because it's for you, not the car!

Congratulations on the DLA award, at the mo re your In Cap claim, just wait to you get the letter confirming the award then send them a copy of it.

I know how you feel I worry about everything, put please try no to worry, you can get a blue badge as you have high rate mobility, if you have a car you can also get yoyr car tax for free.

Just take eachg day at a time, I know its easier said than done, but plz dont worry. Your claim will be back dated to 11th jan on the date that they recieved the form then the money will go into your bank account 4xweekly.

Thankyou, I've rang my council to get a form for the blue badge, they said with hrm I'm automatically entitled.

I'm calming down a bit now, getting used to it and realise it will make a lot of difference in my life. I need to get some changes made in the house especially the kitchen because doing things in the kitchen is difficult for me, I will look into this once everything is settled like the incapacity I wont feel totally ok until the incapacity ib50 form has been decided upon.

I can't believe how lucky I have been really because compared to other people on here spending months fighting appeals considering I only sent for the form mid jan and I had no cab or welfare help I'm just so amazed I've done it :)

Have to say though that coming here is a help because you do get advise and support thanks to everyone here :)
    Thanx
