    This is true
but all fuels are pumped out via a tempreture compensator@15°c
    so no differance at all
as its compensated, otherwise the customs would have a field day

Dont laugh, but i have bought a gas camping kettle. Its smaller in volume than my electricity plug in job and as gas is generally a cheaper fuel than electricity i should be saving bucketloads. However, the electric kettle boils in a fraction of the time of the gas kettle, by the time the gas kettle has boiled, you have dived into the cola.

I kenw someone at work (she's now left :( ) who had a few cotton t-shirts and when they had discoloured etc used to tear them up and use them as cleaning rags, and then she used to wash them out about 3 or 4 times, till their ability to clean was minimal (her wording not mine), and THEN cut them up into strips after their final wash and stuff cushion covers with them, and give them to people as presents!!!!
So therefore never paid for cleaning cloths, and recycled them as presents, and people never tell you that the cushion you "bought" for them was a bit lumpy!!!!
My mum has always drained off fat when cooking, like off mince for example, put it into a ceramic bowl by hob, this solidifies and then she used to spoon out a dollop for the next frying pan meal.Im sure that wasnt the healthiest thing to do!Nor hygenic I imagine!
I save my bath/shower water and decant as much as I can into our water butt to water the not too special plants in our garden.

I recently stayed in one of those Travel Inn places. In the foyer was a table full of sachets tea and coffee (kenco and twinnings) for you to help yourself. So I did. A few trips back and fore..... I think I got about 40 teabags :D Not bad for one nights stay!

    Water down fruit juices.

    'Borrow' stationery from work.

Surely I can do better than this!

My dentist always tells me that pure fruit juice is bad for the teeth - it strips the enamel because of the acidity - so, for medical reasons you must do it!

    It's the law.

You can widen the search for free electricity in many places. The pub I work at has a normal 3-pin plug next to a couch where you could easily charge your phone. I've seen many vacant plugs in cafes, airports. Free electricity man!!

Also, if possible, acquire a USB charger for your phone. That means anytime you use a computer you can charge it up. My university has plenty, so I always charge up my Ipod there.

The obvious get four different pictures of four different people in photo booths, jumping in and out.

Then of course taking some condiments from wetherspoons if you happen to walk past. Free straws at Mcdonalds!

I'm not sure how many of these are actually legit.

I've done the slying a bottle of vodka into a bar a few times. Get yourself an evian bottle and fill it up with vodka, looks exactly the same. I've even took a few cans of lager into one bar and poured them into pint glasses. Much money saved. In my hall bar, a !!!!!! of a deputy bar manager came over and took my bottle of Grolsch saying that they didn't sell it. He's working in a friggn student hall bar!! Love the idea of wrapping a wine box in christmas paper, absolutely genius.

This thread has been a right laugh. It got me thinking how far I've gone recently to save a few pennies. We have one of those water saving devices in our toilet, but we have also followed the yellow/mellow/brown/down method as well. Discovered that on the Meet the Fockers film. We also pinch the sauce sachets from canteens

I also grew a beard, not to save money but to see what I'd look like. As it turns out I haven't bought any of those mach3 razors or foam for about 9 months. I also cut my own hair (as I'm bald it made sense to invest in clippers several years ago).

I switch off the tv if its on standby. When my OH's office closed she was allowed to take the remaining t-bags /stationery / stamps. We have not bought t-bags in over 2 years. I charge my mobile phone at work and make all my 'financial' calls from there as well. I also shower at work or the gym.

I've done other penny pinching stuff but the worst I've ever done is to remove a pair of walking books from a skip. They where my size and could only have been warn a couple of times because they where still in the box they came in.

    Cheers,
    FatJock
