multi id accounts are wrecking this place...so when it all goes to the middle of nowhere i hope you are all proud
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

You are right to a small degree but when house prices are dropping at £800 per week (or whatever ridiculous figure it is) then I think that far outweighs any other circumstances in the list of priorities, unless of course you have money to burn.

No it does not outweigh other circumstances - Kids, marriage, job relocation to name a few.

Once again you assume a £800 fall per house, per month across the country without finding out facts - location, interest rates, deposit etc....

I think it started out as a 'should we move the board' and ended up as a 'we will be moving the board'.

As I understand it, Martin - the dividing line you wish to secure is between the core primary purpose of money saving guidance, tips, and questions etc - and 100% talk or chatter with no apparent purpose, other than talk or chatter.

I therefore keep returning to your original post, and I keep asking myself whether moving the Board is the right basis for resolving the issues involved - does moving the Board resolve the problems or simply move them to another place?

I assume that the Board Guides have your confidence and backing in attaining the objectives you wish to see attained? Therein, to me, is the first step in addressing the problems.

Allow the Board Guides, with your clear public backing, to adjudicate on the distinctions you wish to see attained, and the objectives you wish to see met.

Where therefore - in their opinion - a thread falls well outside of the remit you set for them, allow them to move such Threads to another area - one which could be, or already is, set aside for such general discussion, talk or chatter.

My only caveat - I do agree with other posters that general discussion on issues can indeed help posters form views on subjects, and gain information and knowledge not otherwise attainable - albeit no specific tip or advice may then emanate - but I expect the Board Guides to be able to distinguish that in the vast majority of cases, and leave such discussions intact.

From what I have read, a move to the lower regions of this site seems to be a fate worse than death.

Perhaps therefore, posters knowing that such a possibility exists - and that a Thread which is 100% talk for talking's sake might, in consequence, be encouraged to exercise a degree of self regulation in what they choose to post.

I am not at all confident that this suggestion will work, I also suspect you may be more inclined to either or - when faced with these issues - but I do believe it is worth while attempting, and that your proposed monitoring of this Board, after its potential implementation, would inform you better as to what else you may wish to consider.

But if you'd actually read the threads you speak of where people have asked for advice you would have noted that in 99% of the cases the scenario was along the lines of "I have £20k deposit burning a hole in my pocket and want to buy a house, should I buy one?" so your argument above is somewhat moot here.

However, in the circumstances you describe, yes, I agree that - depending on the specifics - the answer is not necessarily an automatic 'no, you shouldn't buy now' but should get as much off the price as they can possibly squeeze and not be bothered about their £100k house being worth £2.50 in a couple of years time.

WHAT?! SOMEONE IS THINKING OF MOVING THE BUTTON I HAVE TO CLICK TO GET TO THIS BOARD A FEW INCHES DOWN THE PAGE?! HAVE I GOT THIS RIGHT?!?!? SOMEONE GIVE ME THE ADDRESS OF MY MP!

I don't care where the board goes. And anyway, over the past few months it has just desended in to absusive diatribtes, a mass of vitriolic posts and pointless threads with people making up usernames just to insult other people. It's like a bunch of children running riot. Everyone should probably just be grateful it isn't just shut down really.

I have noticed a decline in quality since I first joined. The more I post the worse it seems to get.
