Debate House Prices
In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non MoneySaving matters are no longer permitted. This includes wider debates about general house prices, the economy and politics. As a result, we have taken the decision to keep this board permanently closed, but it remains viewable for users who may find some useful information in it. Thank you for your understanding.

Very true but slightly irrelevant.
Buying a house is probably pretty high on the list of most people's personal ambitions, at least in financial terms - which is after all, what this site is about - saving money. I'd guess that most people have higher ambitions in life terms - after all, life is not just about money and 'owning' things. But all the more important things in life - and I do agree there are many - lie outside the scope of this site.0 -

Not wanting to buy a house doesn't preclude an opinion. Some of our contributers are happy in their own homes (like Poppy) or do not aspire to ownership (Like Single Sue)
I agree, I frequent this board because I'm interested in house prices, but the name of the board also contains the words 'economy' and 'recession', two words that most of the UK are interested in, even those with zero interest in house prices.
It is a wide area for discussion, so I do understand the reasoning behind moving the board to a gerneral discussion area. Perhaps it will raise the standard in Discussion Time? After reading a discussion in there about Jade Goody (and posting in disgust at some of the remarks), it really needs raising!"I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0 -

i think people are getting confused that this board be merged in with the discussion board. I dont think that is how it is going to be.
This board would still be a seperate board not merged in with anything, so why suddenly would posters on here stop going to it??? it is only being moved not merged in with anything else.
If you really have to alter things around, please move us back to being a sub-board of House Buying, Renting & Selling.0 -

Its just because of the importance of all three of the wide topics, that I feel we should NOT be put in a virtual bar/pub. Martin Lewis stands for financial empowerment to a lot of people. To suggest we can sort out our CC or mortages is 'within our remit as the public' but our thoughts on economy, our 'educational empowrment' is bar fodder only, and pointless, is to me, a step back in the responsibilty and empowerment MSE's message appears to be about.0 -

I think the mods should be changed to people who are regular contributors to this board and agree that Generali and SingleSue (if she has time with her studies) would make good mods.
I don't follow threads into the Arms.
Good idea, that is 24 hour coverage (except when SS is out on a date)

FWIW, I think we can be a little cliquey, int hat we have in jokes and mny of us form board friendships and sympathies. But I think these are the saving grace when it all goes haywire. I certainly don't think we are cliquier than some of he other boards.
For example, Treliac started a b'day post for meand it got moved to elsewhere (ok, I know despite me fearsome economic mind :rotfl:its OT) and a poster from elsewhere didn't know who I was, and said so, again, fair enough...but anyone whose racked up the embarrassing number of posts I have can expect to have a thread moved and find being asked 'who' they are kind of a relief, but funny.
So- the point I'm getting to is that it felt kinda cliquey where ever it got moved to as well:)

Hehe, I post there too itsnever2lateisit and the bankruptcy board, the housing board etc etc.
In fact, my MSE life started on the DFW board.
I have several internet personas......sometimes I wonder who the real me is!
Edited to say - Only one ID on MSE though! We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
