Debate House Prices
In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non MoneySaving matters are no longer permitted. This includes wider debates about general house prices, the economy and politics. As a result, we have taken the decision to keep this board permanently closed, but it remains viewable for users who may find some useful information in it. Thank you for your understanding.

I have found since this board was created a lot of what was normally discussed in DT moved over to here. I feel we have lost some contributors to discussions threads as these board have become a closed shop and have made people feel unwelcome.
I believe it would benefit us all to open these discussion up the the wider audience of mse.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

There's no point in having something this vitriolic and I certainly dont want it in the core MoneySaving boards.
Notice how apart from Dan, your 'thankers' never post here. This what winds people up. Looks like you have a few groupies who follow you about.:D0 -

This thread is an indication of what the whole board is like Martin. As I said in the original Changes to the Boards thread, any newbies who come to MSE for advice about house buying or are afraid of losign their jobs in the recession must be appalled when they stumble into the Housing/economy and see all this going on. Many of them must turn tail and leave, taking with them a very poor opinion of MSE.
Anyone with financial problems, debts, facing reposession are roundly turned on, anyone who is considering buying a house is roundly turned on, anyone who has a BTL is roundly turned on. It gets really vicious and really drags down the rest of MSE.
You just need to make sure that the board guides are vigilent with the other housing related boards to make sure this lot dont wreck those too. I think if you combined all the housing related boards (mortgage, house buying & renting, mortgage free wannabee) into a single Housing area, then this would help dilute the more extreme posters on here due to the larger numbers of 'sane' people who regularly post on those boards.
Basically, this board is poison and the sooner you move it to an MSE backwater the better it will be for the other boards.0 -

When the board was first introduced but after being ignored and not taken seriously because I regularly posted in less acceptable parts of the site to this, I took my leave.

I've come to the conclusion that it is going to happen regardless of what points are made.
So unusually for me, I am giving up the fight (in the word sense, I am completely non violent) to keep it in pure money. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Just to reiterate the point about "it needs moderation". We don't moderate, if people report posts we will look at them. Yet we're never going to have people proactively going through posts to make the thing work - both resources, time and practice don't permit it.
The key is if you think a post is abusive then report it. Yet ultimate in a debate forum there will be disagreement. I understand that. I just am not convinced Pure Money is the place for it.
THanks for all the opinions, Im going to ponder.Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.
