Abslutely, I agree. But if you benture into a board with Houseprices in the title, its obviously going to feature within the content. :) Not wanting to buy a house doesn't preclude an opinion. Some of our contributers are happy in their own homes (like Poppy) or do not aspire to ownership (Like Single Sue)

They cant, they just blindly accuse people in a similar way that they used to shout "witch" in medieval times. Its another way for the clique to control the board, if your face doesn't fit or they don't like what you have to say, you get accused of being a sock puppet and hassled, mainly to stop you posting or to dilute the point of your posts.

It's easier to dismiss you by claiming your a sock puppet than face the alternative that there is a lot of people who don't agree with them.

Its another form of bullying, something this board excels at.

I always found !!!!!! and even Squat Now very reasonable people if one agreed to disagree. It is only when the personal attacks started that the quality of debate turned into a sterile mud slinging contest.

I've read and even thanked an occasional post of yours. In fact, it was you I was thinking of when I was hoping more interest was there.

Its interesting cliques are so clearly seen. I think there are cliques through out the site, and, as I have already agreed, I think we are a bit, but I think rather than being one clique we are a group of interlinkied cliques. But your perception is different, it seems. Can yu expand at all? It might be that you feel you can't in your role though, I understand that. :)

News stories ARE looked at from a different angle here, I agree, but I think its part of the point of ''us''.:o :)

Perhaps it's the friendliness of some posters towards others. It's also much evident when some posters go off-topic, it is much more tolerated than compared to someone else not of the clique who has dared to take a thread off topic. Obviously, this creates an atmosphere where some people have more right to an opinion than others and it happens on every message board.

That is my personal observation from reading the threads on here. I predict a lot of righteous indignation to appear after posting this.

    Very true but slightly irrelevant.

Buying a house is probably pretty high on the list of most people's personal ambitions, at least in financial terms - which is after all, what this site is about - saving money. I'd guess that most people have higher ambitions in life terms - after all, life is not just about money and 'owning' things. But all the more important things in life - and I do agree there are many - lie outside the scope of this site.

It was a response to carolt who asked that for it to be at the top of the forum as she intimated that it would be the most important event for everyone in their lives. I was merely pointing out it was not the case.

I am a board guide on this forum, and I do read it a lot more threads on here than I post. I do have my personal opinion on things but it seems difficult to post them when there are is a clear clique on this board. It is made harder by the fact that everyone on here seems to have a dagger dug in deep towards the board guides.

The same threads rehashing the news stories in different guises and in the GIOL board, I would merge them but to do so here would incite an uproar so it gets left.
I think the Arms is the "cliqueyist" board on mse. I also think that the whole of the Arms/DT etc needs more than one board guide as Glad struggles at the best of times (as in the Jade Goody rip debacle) so between her and Divadee we'd be stuffed. I know from personal experience that it possible to mod on a board you have an interest in impartially as I mod on GHPC where we have a laid back approach. There are a few posters on this board who would be more than capable of doing a great job of modding whilst still being a regular contributor.

Oh and while we're at it, what's the point of the 'shop but don't drop' board? That's just general chit-chat too.

I think this board is great and should stay here. Most of the threads are about money saving because what is happening in the economy will reflect on house prices. For those regular readers of this board, the other threads are often very amusing too.

I think the mods should be changed to people who are regular contributors to this board and agree that Generali and SingleSue (if she has time with her studies) would make good mods.

I don't follow threads into the Arms.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

None from me. It definitely happens. It's obviously something to do with how people feel.... about a sense of "belonging" and a sense of "earning that right" etc.

Completely illogical but ahuman emotion that seems to repeat itself too often to be fluke or unique.

Well, I'd agree with that a litle. And I'd accept I'm one of the main people to blame:o I often use OT diversion to diffuse heated situations. SOmetimes in a very obviuous way, sometimes less so. Quite often its successful.

I can't help developing sympthies towards people whose stories I get. But I'd say I have board chums on both sides of the frequent rows. I certainly PM regularly with people on different sides of rows.

I was once new here. It felt cliquey at first, as it would on any DB. You either are nterested enough to stick with it, and people start to notice you, or you don't.

I voted to move the board. As Martin says, it's not an advisory board, it's a talking shop. But I do admit that it's handy having it near the houses buying and mortgage boards. There's so many boards now it's an effort to work your way down the list.
