Here's a Christmas gift to all those who are in distress, despair, or feeling suicidal:

From next year, you will be able to call the Samaritans for as long as you need, from any phone eg a PAYG mobile absolutely free of charge :T

Ofcom decided that giving emotional support was a service of "extreme social value" and that cost should not be a barrier to anybody in need of that support.

The number will be 116 123.

The technology is being rolled out now to support this, and there will be an advertising campaign as it replaces the 08457 909090 (local call rate from a landline, costs much more from a mobile); it is likely both numbers will be run in parallel during the phase in period.

I will let you know as soon as the 116 123 number goes live. CB2X
Thank you for this. Samaritans help many many people and this will no doubt enable them to help even more.

Posted this in the black dog thread but to you all here, although Xmas can be a hard time for many of us, we can get through it. Thinking of you all this Christmas.

I've not looked in here for ages, and was surprised to see so many old faces. I often think of you all :)

Shaz - nice to 'see' you again. Happy Birthday, and sorry about your DS. Are you getting much support these days? Must be hard for you. Will be thinking of you and your Mum tomorrow, hope it goes okay.

Miro - Sorry about your Kitty. I know how much your furry friends mean to you. I often think about you, hope things are as okay as they can be.

CCstar - Lovely to see you, how are things with you? What about OH and DS these days?

I'm alright. I had a baby 8 months ago, and I'm medication free as I'm breastfeeding. I'm on the waiting list for Psychotherapy and should hopefully start in 3-6 months, no updates for a while though. Still find things hard, anxiety and agoraphobia are quite unmanageable.

congrats on the birth of your baby feelie, think you had just found out you were expecting, last time 'i saw you', how time flies. well done on sticking to the breastfeeding, i remember how tireing that is. still getting no support from social services, and cpn just says wait til they 16 then i have no legal obligation to keep them safe :confused:i'm hardly going to throw them out soon as they reach 16.
hope you feel better soon, agrophobia must be really hard to cope with, especially with a new baby

Do you mind if I join you in here? My OH has bi-polar disorder (diagnosed and being treated) and I feel like I need a support network.

Come to think of it, are there any support groups out there for families/loved ones of those with BPD?
