Just wondered, is there such a thing as a sleeping pill which does not leave you feeling as if you have a sheet over your head the next day?! Am taking something (probably not allowed to say on here) but means I get a good nights sleep- however, the next day is sloooow and difficult. If I don't take the pills, sleeplessness is somehow worse...I can't win!
Spent yesterday in a&e with period pain from hell- couldn't even walk without crouching into a ball. Luckily GP now listening to what I say when I say there is pain and is going to do a scan. Small merceys 'eh?!
Am hoping it doesn't rain today re: grotty weather confused76! I am in London and we seem to have escaped much of the floods, maybe everyone should just come live in London! (No don't- its not that nice a place in rush hour!) but you just know our time is comming! Its a weekend thing, right?!
Hope you are well too, sorry to hear about the lack of payrises, not the sort of thing you need 6 weeks to Christmas (sorry for the reminder!).
Am on way to psychiatrist appointment as a result of what happened with me last week. Ambivilant as have just managed to block everything out of my mind...not the best advice but when your desperate, you do anything to get by.
hiya i'm glad your gp is finally listening to you!
about the sleeping pills, what if you take them a bit earlier at night, does that make a difference the next day? x0 -

Thats what the psych nurse advised- know it sounds daft, but for about 15 years I've not gone to bed till the small hours of the morning (lived with my dad who'd fall asleep when he came home from work leaving me and my sis to do what we wanted- including staying up late!) sort have ended up with a "me time" which starts at about 1am. It feels depressing to go to bed earlier as well as daunting (I get bad dreams), can tolerate an hour or two earlier but still feel anxious! Am taking the pill at 1am, going to bed at 3am/4am, feels like a challenge in itself!!
Am also taking a pill for my period pains- A&E gave it to me after I spent the night in agony, woke up in too much pain to walk! What they have given me also knocks me out- double wammy! but over the moon to have reduced the pain, (am now awaiting a scan...)
Wish the psych had gone well- he really didn't listen to much of what I said at all, especially bad as I didn't even get to talk about what was bothering me! He made a "diagnosis" on something else I merely mentioned in passing. Tried several times to persuade me to take a certain pill, I had already said no to, several times also. Is it a male thing or is it financially a problem for me to refuse? guess we'll never know!
Am lucky I actually have an overseeing psychiatrist (unrelated to this one) who I can see next week. For that I am extremely grateful!0 -
before i right i am not sure if this is the right place or not so do not moan at me if i am wrong....
(sorry just had some nasty comments before)
i have at last got a initial assessment form from my local mental heatlh team an have a appointment next week to go and see somebody the problems is i am compleatly confused over the form and they have asked if i can fill it in beofre i go...
has anybody filled one of these forms in before?? even the first question has got me A: what problems have you recently experienced? the answer i would give would be none lately but i have on going problems that have started from around 6 years old.. would this be the right answer to give??0 -
hi boo, and welcome to the thread everyone is really lovely here.

i suppose in a way yes... i was sexually abused from the age of 6, then the bloke tryed to rape me at 15... my best friend then died when i was 17ish, i was in and out of violent relationships (as these were better than what was going on at home) lost 2 children to s/s because of the relationships, one of which was adopted when she was only a few months old... husband died a couple of years ago... i used to use street dugs alot when younger to block things out then that went drink but because i have had another child since i have stop drinking so feel like compleate crap..
thanks0 -
(((hugs))) boo, what an awful time you have had, wish there was some way i could help.
i would put all that info on to the form, attaching extra sheets if there isnt enough space. its no wonder you have mental health issues hun, remember we are here for you, should you ever need to talk. i have found this thread invaluable over the last few years, since i found it.
good luck

i did post my probs on here a while ago, but now have these forms and this appointment all at once, and it is making my anxiety start..
my doctor has me down as having anxiety, depression, agrophobia and having a addictive personality (alcohol) i also have asthma.
will the mental heatlh team be able to help anymore than what my doctor has already come up with?? if so what sort of things will they be able to help with??
xx0 -

Hi boo, have had experience of mental health teams (have just been put back to my m/h team after a 6 year break!) they all work in slightly different ways tbh, and some may even have speciality wards such as eating disorders, self harm, pspchosis and etc. It depends what you need, they will sort that out in an assesment.
I've never had a form! But that just goes to show how each team works slightly differently and as a result will have different systems.
I would say that mental health teams are different from your GP, for a start the appointments are longer- up to an hour rather then the 4.5 minutes your meant to get with a doctor. Doctors tend to refer and give the say so for medication. They don't really get into the whys and wheres of the problem, its not their job, instead they work on a very "today" moment by moment thing and how to get rid of the feelings so you can get through the day. A mental health team will tend to work on processing things or dealing with things or coming to terms with things.
I would say though, from my experience, its a good idea to make a point of learning about your care plan- if and when you get discharged, it can slip up on you- if you feel unhappy with being discharged or with the pills they may prescribe, say something! In my area anyway, they have a habit of deciding on something and going with it, and then its too late to do anything about it from your side-
SO! Ask for details of what is important to you, if for example you'd rather see a women then a man, have or not have certain medication, when you get discharged....etc, its not so much about knowing your rights as getting your basic needs accross before they decide theirs. Not sure if its the same in all M/H teams but its certainly how they work with mine! I stupidly forgot to ask about discharge, less then a week I have just about gotten back on my feet and I find I'm about to be discharged! I don't think I'm well enough to be discharged, am still on sleeping pills, am still struggling with my mood, but don't have much say so atm. Am trying to get an appointment to fight my corner when infact I don't feel like fighting at all, I feel like crawling into a ball in a corner of the room, just wish I'd remembered from last time when a similar thing happened, things could have been much better off.0 -
hi thanks for the advice..
as u have said fight for it, remind them what happened last time and how it made you feel..
the mental health team i will be going to seem to be ok, i know 3 people who use the same team and i have seen one of the cpn's on a home visit to one of them on more than one occasion.
i can not ask any of these friends about the form as 2 of them had been sectioned (hench thats when mental health came into it) so they did not do a form.
the only problem is i dont know what to expect when i get there, from the 3 people i know who use the same team they have all said that the DR (consultant) says nothing really when they go and see him, so am not really up for seeing him.. the letter says my appointment will be with one or more members of the team (either a cpn, social worker or DR) on a first appointment which one do people see as i am not to keen on the doctor that does not talk alot..
thanks0
