Am I too late to join? I'd like to aim for £100 for April if that's ok? (there's only two of us and normally I spend around £130 so I think its semi-realistic).

    Thanks,

I'm doing a vege lasagna tomorrow - maybe my 'old' recipe using swiss chard (or silverbeet, as I call it).

Please could you post your recipe kunekune? I'm growing swiss chard for the first time and could do with some inspiration.

TheBees are off to a flying start. Managed to spend £79 out of my estimated £80 per week but that included a months supply of cat food costing £15. Determined not to go into a supermarket until next weekend. :D

Nearly died of shock on Saturday when the gas and electric bills came and totalled £500:eek: . Promptly sent DH outside to read the meters as the bills were estimated so hopefully the amended bills should be a lot less than that!!!

    Good luck everyone.

Spent again today....£9.63 in Home Bargains (stocking up on loo roll, tissues and deoderant...so much cheaper than Tesco) and £4.97 on bread, milk & potatoes at Iceland.

I'd emailed Tesco earlier in the week as my delivery was 15 minutes past the delivery slot....DH said I was mad...but got the £4 delivery charge refunded:j - Every Little Helps!!!!:rotfl:

    Evening all

Just to update the spends, did first shop of April on 27 March and had a meal out so spend as follows: Aldi £18.42, MrA £48.99 and Lidl £5.00 total £72.41, meal out £24.00 so total spend £96.41. Have a complete meal plan for this week so would like to think we can stick to budget as spent way over budget last month. Making HM macaroni cheese for dinner tomorrow night so off to find a recipe.
Keep safe and well everyone, keep going even when it gets tough.

  • Hi Everyone

I'm new to this so hope this appears in the right place, if not I'm really sorry and I'll try and fix it!

Anyway, I've been trying to get on top of my finances for a while and could use a bit of moral support. My partner and I have been spending a ridiculous amount of money on shopping, due to not planning, us both working odd shifts etc.

I'm going to try sticking to £100 for the month for both of us to cover food, plus loo rolls, washing powder, basic toiletries etc, so could I please be added to the challenge?

Went to Morrisons today, stuck to my list and came in under the £25 I was aiming for, so that's a good start.

My other aims for this month are to see if I can get through the whole month without spending any money in the work canteen (no excuse as there is free coffee in the staff room!) and to not buy magazines and newspapers (will read online instead).

Anyway, hope everyone has had a nice relaxing weekend and looking forward to the week ahead.

    Morning all

Quick update on my month so far :rotfl: we start on the 25th -so Friday evening we nipped out for my "big shop" hmmmmm -big it wasn't :T ..after thinking for ages all I ended up with was:-
    1. 1kg tomatoes
    2. 4 red peppers
    3. 2 ice bergs -only 29c each -full frice and weighing nearly 1kg each :j
    4. cucumber
    5. 2 tins tuna
    6. jar mayo
    7. 2 tins sweetcorn
    8. 2 kg apples
    9. 4 kg oranges
    10. 2.5kg potatoes
    11. 500g plums mmmmmmmmm -all gone :p
    so a total of €13.45 -:T ....
Hubby is goes back to the UK in the morning until friday evening to play hockey-so we are hoping he will be able to nip to ASDA :p -well he is driving the minibus so fingers crossed. If he can make it Im getting him to bring back bread flour -68p instead of €2.09 a bag  , plenty of cheeses to whack in the freezer and some coffee -I think that is it so far..so that will make quite a difference to my total although we are now in month 4 and I have only spent just under 2 months money -so it won't be a problem and it will save us loads in the long run :D

So, this week I will be living on salads n jackets with cottage cheese -hubby will be jealous -but I will make sure there is plenty left for when he gets back:A :rotfl: ..... I have some bread under way, so tomorrow hubby will be taking plenty of cheese salad sandwiches for the journey, no doubt the others will want to stop off at Mcdonalds/burger king  -luckily hubby would rather have Hm stuff :T . Today he has taken a game casserole and Hm bread -good job as its bloomin frosty here this morning  glad non of my seedlings are out yet ;)

oooohhh on the NOT buying magazines -I now haven't had one since before xmas -the fact that they cost about twice as much here is enough to put me off -I must work out what I have saved
right -enough waffle -have a great day everyone and hope we all have a good month :A -
