I've been into town and didn't buy anything at all - not even in Poundland :j which is usually my downfall ;) I went to the library & collected some dvd's but they were for the children so I made them give me the money for them :rotfl:I will have to have a little spend later as my potato peeler broke this morning whilst I was doing the potatoes in preperation for tea this evening but a new one is only 49p :D I'm also sending DH to get the childrens easter eggs but that's not coming out of the grocery challenge budget as he offered to buy them. Hope everyone has a happy & peaceful time over the easter holiday weekend.

Don't want to count my chicks before they're hatched (topical :p) but I think I'm having a NSD today

I've just had the most wonderful (calorific) leftover lasagne for lunch. I wish I could eat it again :D.

After today I'm off for 4 whole days. DH only off for 2 of those days and they are the ones to watch. We seem to spur each other on for spending .

Am v jealous of those of you with rhubarb. Asda on Tuesday - 4 wee thin stalks for £2.50. They should have been wearing masks and stripey jumpers with prices like that

  • Had large shop delivered today total £105-80. I also spent £2-89 on a tuna steak for hubby, as I realised the salmon fillets wouldn't be big enough for him. This leaves £22-76 left so we'll see. Had lunch before we went out today, then into town , library, then bought a couple of DVD's with Easter money and couple of packets of sweets to share from Tesco's . Had some cheap DvD's like Indiana Jones, Horten, Happy Feet and Kung foo panda. Also large packets sweets reduced to 64p. Wine gums, jelly babes, choc eclairs and licourice allsorts. Guess what we're doing now.;) Hope u all have a good Easter:)
    Grocery challenge june £300/ £211-50.

    Hi,
Can I join please. Seem to have spent a fortune last month and need to sort myself out. There are 5 adults to feed and I hope to keep to 320 pounds. This will include toiletries and cleaning stuff as well as food. Spent 85.59 in Tesco today.

I've updated my total as I went to Costco today with my parents (we buy large packs and split it up). I managed to get sugar, ham, some pop (for BF's birthday party) and some crisps all at good prices. Especially pleased with the ham as it works out at 60p/100g and its great quality as its a boiled ham which is carved and we've really missed having ham for sandwiches. Also got a bottle of milk, bread and some frozen chips for an easy dinner tonight (fishfingers, chips and beans).

We still have a few things to get this month, so I'm reckoning we'll be nearer the £200 mark, but as its a birthday month it includes party food and some drinks. I'll also be making a few cakes for the birthday boy (lemon drizzle, chocolate and one other).

We have Easter sorted, roast lamb for Monday (going to see Jackson Browne Sunday night) and I'll be making some spice buns for Sunday breakfast.

Aargh, just back from my usual Thursday-night shop at MrT - it's packed with people filling trolleys as if the place is closed all weekend, rather than just Sunday  Usually it's fairly civilised at this time ...

Total includes £3.50 on a strappy t-shirt (in case we get summer this year). Also bought a gammon joint - I'm off work all week and thought I'd slowcook it and use for sandwiches (also make soup) for lunches.

    Happy Easter everyone!

It's official, I am way over budget this month. I should have increased my figure for this month. The school holidays = more boys popping in and staying for lunch or dinner. I like I busy house so I can't complain.

Hello everyone, i dont know if anyone has heard of costco but if you know someone who can take you, there are some bargains to be had. You have to look round but i picked up 1100 tea bags for £7.99 the other day, along with various other items, semi skimmed milk 6 pints for £1.47 but it is trade only though so you do need a trade card.

I go to costco once a month as you say you have to look around, today they were doing testers of oven chips and they were gorgeous! £1.29 for 2.5kg!! the bag was huge. I also buy 4 litre bottles of robinsons squash they are about £2, I also get princes orange juice works out at 46p a litre carton ( you have to buy 12 though)
