  • Hello, I really need to get started with this thread again. I'm making too many trips to the supermarket midweek not to mention spending too much on my weekly shop. I don't get my April wage until Wednesday 15th though so I'll say £160 to last for two weeks and then I guess there will be a May thread to join Hopefully it should be much less because my freezer still has a good amount of food left in it
    Start Date: 27/11/2010
    Padding: Day 42
    Target £8000
    Amount: £562.23

Quite a good shop in Asda for me today:

I went for cat litter, cat food and the usual other gubbins (Milk, bread & eggs mainly) and came out with:

Catsan £9.97 for 20L which isn't bad really I suppose (Any advice on where to get it cheaper would be great though!)
Milk, bread & eggs £5.07
Mince £7 (2 big packs for batch cooking with)
    Pasta sauces £2.36
Yoghurt (2x6 packs of Muller Crunch Corner) £3 I felt this was a really good deal!
    Whiskas 24 packs 2x£5 each

    Total spent = £40.28

But!! I noticed on my way out *coughscouredthereceiptwithafinethoothcombcough* that I had been charged £7.46 instead of £5 for one of the catfoods, so I went over to Customer Services, the girl apologised and gave me the difference back. I waited to see what would happen (sweet FA) and then said "I think I read something in the Asda magazine about getting a gift card if you're overcharged". She did look quite shamefaced and then muttered something about them "phasing that out soon" but did give me my £2 giftcard :j :j

Going to tootle off and update my signature :D

I was shaking on the way out but really happy at getting my extra £2!! WooHoo!!
  • Bought some baby formula and stuff for weekend lunches (DH always complains about rubber chicken or cheese being 'boring') as well as some more ingredients for my baking store cupboard so that DD and i can make flapjacks and brownies over this wet weekend :)

Have updated my sig with total.

Just a small spend on bread & milk today. I would like to be able to stay out of the shops while DD is on holiday, but I can’t see that happening. But there is plenty in for now.

There is beef dopiaza (for the freezer) in the SC & it smells heavenly. More beef is in the fridge marinading to go in the SC in the morning for beef stifado. And more fish & meat in the fridge defrosting for a big batch cooking day tomorrow.

Going to my parents’ on Sunday, as Mum is doing a big family roast. Happy Easter everyone!

Oops, forgot to add on £8.08 for toiletries today in Boots.

All of my food, toiletries and cleaning stuff comes out of this budget.

    Botheration.

:o Sorry peeps, i`ve just noticed that i haven`t updated my sig for ages so i`ve done that and then on checking realised that after posting at the end of March i`ve not put my target in for April either.:o

Mrs M would you please be kind enough to add my total for the April challenge which is £160 please. I`ve spent most of it already but think that we are still on track.

    Thanks
    SD
Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

These are the recipes I'm using:

    http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/beef-curry-dopiaza,1333,RC.html

    http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/meat-recipes/beef-stifado

As they both require slow cooking for about 2 hours I figured they'd work in the SC. I cooked the beef dopiaza in the SC for a bit over 4 hours on high & its perfect, though I know SCs can vary. I'll see how the beef stifado comes out later.
