Hiya yeah you can freeze sliced ham, i do and its fine whenever i do it.

Mrs M please could you change my limit to £250 instead of £150, the cat is costing me a fortune for all the extra and special food she needs.Sorry to be a pain, thanks.

Did another shop  today another £30 down the drain just on darm fruit for the cat and boys. This easter holidays are really draining my resources so will be eating out of the freezer for the rest of the month. I'm determined, chopped up loads of veg and froze it so just eat that up with the meat in they. Also froze some bread so will be eating that as well.

Since OH lost his job i seem to be spending more on food,, think its because he eats constantly and snacks on everything .

Right to make a cuppa want wine but have none enjoy the rest of your night everyone!

Sistercas-the costco ham freezes especially well...if it lasts that long! Had some tonight for dinner as we changed our minds and had ham, egg and chips. Yummy! I tend to split it up and put it in the freezer and get it out the day before needed and it defrosts fine in the fridge.

  • went to Mr T's last night & spent £34.18, only went in for milk & face wash but bought half leg of lamb for easter dinner, stocked up on butter that was on offer & potatoes & reduced veggies. my spend is creeping up slowly so will need to watch what I'm spending from now on. my freezers, fridge & cupboards are brimming so I shouldn't really need to spend much more.

Went Easter egg shopping last night, at Mr T good deals to be had, able to convince DD that size is not important except when it is for me the bigger the egg the better;). was able to go to the market and really stock up on fruit and veg, able to get a good deal on fish as well:j, the only problem with the market is the parking £2.00per hr.
Right off out again down to parents for lunch, enjoy the day all

Doing ok this month, can i just clarify Mrs M, i'm doing £47.50 per week not per month! I wish:rotfl:

I added up my total for this week and its exactly the same as last week - spooky:p

Freezer is getting a bit run down now, trying to get rid of everything so i can defrost and restock.

Hope everyone is doing well, cant keep up with the thread.

Hi there, a newbie hoping to join. I need to be a lot tighter with the purse strings.

Family of 2 adults and 2 children with a budget this month of £300. Hoping to get that down over the next few months. This is my first month of keeping track so I have no idea how much we spend. Good Luck Everyone x

  • Hi everyone
Just a quick update, I am getting scarily close to my budget now after a shop at Mozzers the other might, had to get some cat stuff, bread, milk etc. Made some soup on Tuesday night with lentils and veggies I had already so that saved a bit on lunches. Still need a few things for dinners to last me till the 30th, don't think I'm going to come in on budget but I'm going to try!
Good luck for the Easter weekend everyone!
  • Just back from a trip to Lidl, Aldi and Asda to cover us for next week. Even with a list, I seem rather prone to random purchases. I came very close to buying a unicycle in Lidl's. It's not as if I even know anyone who'd want a unicycle for Christmas! Anyway, I managed to spend £70.11 on groceries, pet food and toiletries.

Here's what ended up in the trolley, but wasn't on the list:
    4 breaded camenbert £2.15
    Cretan Mini-breads £1.79
Spaghetti 45p (needed, but forgot to write down)
Peach nectar 96p (figured we could have bellinis outside if it was nice -it's foggy and wet)
    Empire biscuits 99p
    Veg pakora £1.99
    Felafel £1.99 (both looked nice!)
    Sweet potatoes 89p
    Sesame breadsticks 99p
4 packs of microwave rice £3 (usually do it from scratch, but felt it would be useful)
    Pizza £1
Blueberry Frangipani tart £2 (well, it is Easter)
6 Hot cross buns 27p (ditto)

    That's quite a lot, really. In fact, it's £17.47.
Evidently, I need to learn the art of making a list and sticking to it.

This leaves £86.48 of the £250 budget to get us through to the end of the month. Will need to be quite strict with myself.

Bought some coffee today, plus some potatoes for dinner tonight so I've updated my spend total. Will need milk before the end of the weekend, but local Somerfield is open all weekend, so no problem there. Tonight its going to be pork steaks found at the bottom of the freezer with jacket potato. Will do some baking later as we're popping to a friends for afternoon tea tomorrow as they've just moved close to us.
