Hi everyone.
First post on the forum! I'm trying to keep my food budget to a minimum so thought I'd join all of you in the challenge. Budget for April is £100. Spent so far (from 28th March) £78.54Have meals for about the next fortnight though so hopefully can stay on track.
Good luck everyone!0 -
Thanks for listing me. I will stick with £250 please, as I am consistently coming in about £20 under. People at work are aghast that I can manage on £250 and some are thinking of getting a 'seperate purse'.
Keep up the good work.Jane 21120 -

Been to Asda 3 times since I started this challenge so starting to understand where all the cash goes now:cool:! Tho starting this when its school holidays is maybe not such a great idea as they eat non stop..... "canigetsomethingtoeat" is all they seem to ask me :rolleyes:Smoke free since 16th Dec 2009

OMG!couldnt believe the total at the till yesterday. We just had a small trolley but it was overflowing. We had ran out of everything at the same time so had to replace cupboard items but we basically just bought 7 days worth of dinners, lunch stuff and then we had run out of loo roll and all the cleaning stuff, soappowder etc, some condiments, dog food, juice, biscuits, cereal and we got birthday cards and a bunch of flowers.Nearly £130!Shocking.Beans on toast for 2 weeks this month I think."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0

I've got a bit to catch up on since Friday when I had my wisdom teeth out, but will for now update. We've had to buy a couple loaves of soft bread as I couldn't manage the normal bakery stuff (with seeds and grains), plus bought more eggs and milk. I'm not too swollen or bruised, it was an easy extraction, so have managed to eat fairly normally.
I'll be updating my sig in a moment. On the job front, I've managed to get myself a new one, it starts on the 20th April, so that takes a huge weight off my mind in terms of grocery budget. We celebrated by buying a £1 Easter egg and sharing it (Buttons of course) and it was lovely.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3650 -

Re goji berries. I too bought them the other week and could not believe how absolutely rank they are. I am so miserly I wouldn't throw them out so instead had them in my porridge. They're much, much better hydrated. That handsome boy off Grow your Own Drugs swears by them too, and apparently you can grow your own
I have three goji berry plants in the garden. I bought one last summer and took a couple of cuttings which have shot up, but yes I have to admit, rehydrated is the way to go with them, dried, they are not so nice. But then I don't like cranberrys or blueberrys so was very suprised to enjoy goji berries.
Have decided that as I am having such luck in propagating them I am going to sell established cuttings this year to help the OS funds.
CG-wise - Bought some huge ham hocks very cheaply (£2 each) from the butchers so now just have to work out how to cook them! Am still fighting to get the receipts from my OH, it's like an Olympic sport trying to get him to open his wallet and hand them over!

edit: Well done on the new job Toonie. Not easy to find in this climate! To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -

I'd like to try a budget of £200 this month but hopefully I'll be under but what's the betting I'll go over
Oh stuff, my girls and I have been "Spring cleaning" the living room and I've found receipts that I must have mislaidI've undated my sig accordingly  and I feel I'm definitely going to be over budget this month  (my month only started on the 25th March :eek:) mostly thanks to a McDonalds treat (£17.61) and a strange new obsession to hommus my girls and I have developed :o
My thinking is as long as I'm under my normal £230 I'll be happy:D
