Gyros is a kind of kebab meat -but chunks of meat rather than moshed and reformed ( I believe its greek or there abouts)..apparently my hubby used to live on them before we got together  they are much nicer than other "kebabs" but still a bit greasy... for gyros meat, salad, chips and tzatziki on a plate as a takeaway they are about €8 each .... but I have found that aldi sell the meat in the freezer -so I buy that and make my own tortilla wraps, cook the meat until crispy and do caramalised onions, mushrooms and peppers and serve it wrapped up with salad and tzatziki on the side ... and we both prefer it :Dand the meat is €2.49 a box and that will do us 2 meals each -super saving :T:rotfl:
English cheeses are hard to get hold of apart from in the NAAFI and they cost an arm and a leg... about €6+ for a 400g block of mature cheddar and over €4 for a small block of cheshire etc:eek:-unless I spot any whoopsed-so now hubby has a stash to keep him happy for quite some time
Yeah and it is supposed to be tax-free:eek::eek:I wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -
Hi everyone, hope you are having a good evening. My sig is looking a bit scarey as I have only got about £75 to see me till 25th April when we go on our hols! But, I have all the meat and fish I need in the freezer and will hopefully only need F&V and milk. All the family are coming to me for Easter lunch but MIL is making a cheescake for dessert and I have got the main course sorted.
Had a busy afternoon building my vegetable "square foot" boxes. We got 4 in but could have squeezed another one in - I may do that later. Have filled the boxes with compost but we need to get the wooden laths to make the square divisions and the pea shingle to put in the gaps between the boxes to deter the snails! I am really excited and can't wait to start sowing them. However, I have decided that I won't risk doing anything until we come back from our hols on 2nd May - I am mostly going to do salad stuff so it won't be too late to start then.
Well off to watch the Number 1 ladies detective agency! have a good evening everyone.

Today I cooked a whole chicken in the slow cooker for the first time ever. Just sat it upside down on 3 carrots with about a centimetre of water in the bottom. Cooked it on low for about 8 hours and when I tried to lift it out the meat just fell off...:j
I used half the meat for a chicken pie (mixed the chicken with half a tin of cream of chicken soup and some sweetcorn) and the rest will be used in a stir fry later in the week.. Also kept the juices for a stock..
I'm aiming to cook 2 double meals each week so that I can put one of them in the freezer for a final week of free meals IYSWIM. :rotfl:So far I've made a spare pasta dish...
I have spent the afternoon planting up some dwarf beans, lettuce, spring greens and a few more potatoes... I don't have a dedicated vegetable patch as the sunniest spot in the garden where I would have it is where we like to sit..! So I'm using large pots and grow bags. Quite excited. Hope my little seeds and seedlings survive the night. The beans have some bubble wrap around them to keep them warm!!Mortgage Free in 3 part 2 challenge - pay off £9000

Have spent €72.41 so far of my April budget...going away for 10 days on Thursday but as we will be self catering I will see how we do, really holiday spend is from another budget, so won't be too hard on myself...hopefully OH and DS3 will catch some nice fish which we can either eat or freeze and bring home...maybe both depending on how good or bad the catch is!

I have spent £13.33 of my budget on Saturday on a few items which should last us to the end of the week. We should only need fresh bread and milk during the week. I got a £10 off voucher for tesco delivery so I am going to do a meal plan for 4 weeks and order a big shop tomorrow.Mortgage: £59709.77 (26/08/17) Now £58683.93 MFD Nov 2033Current OP Savings £3952.68.

Morning all
Wondering how half term will effect me, dd1 usually has school dinners. Tomorrow we are going out to the zoo (my brother turns 30 so thats where he wants to go lol) so its packed lunch for us all there.
Should have gone to Icelands over weekend but thought I'd go every two weeks, not already realising it was lol so it'll be three weeks inbetween trips which just shows me I've got enough in the freezer at the moment.
have a good week everyone0 -
Hi,
Popped in to Mr T to do a "small" fruit and veg shop and managed to spend £39! Did get the F&V and seemingly a ton of other stuff too!
My mum was with me and I think we unwittingly egged each other on a bit - never mind, it'll all get eaten eventually I suppose.
I have thought about a loose meal plan but it will have to get finalised pretty soon!
I only have about £85 left for the rest of the month which seems like very little but I'm sure that there's plenty in the freezer I just have to work out what to do with it!
Anyway, good luck to everyone else.....0
