I just can't get a job!

So if an agency told you, you had to look for a job 50 miles away you would do it? At the expense of not seeing your daughter and being worse off and not being able to pay your bills. No well I told them to stuff it and said I intended to work closer to home to cut my costs and look what happened I succeeded!
I did more than that. I went to sea and was away for periods of up to three months at a time. I didn't want to do it or leave my family, but it got me onto the first rung of the offshore ladder, and now have a very plum job working two weeks away and three weeks at home for very good money.
However, it was a hard and bitter sacrifice to make, but ultimately worth it. Also, the OP is not in the same position as you as he has no children to consider. He is just choosing not to take an option."None are more hopelessly enslaved, than those who falsely believe they are free." - Goethe0 -
Is your email address on your cv tyroneshoelaces@yadayada.com?
Just a thought...
I remember receiving a CV previously, with the individual's e-mail address near the top...
"partyanimal247@e-mailprovider.com"
Wonderful...:D"Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

Still chuckley your grammar lets you down its so disappointing.
No, I need the money, please do not get me wrong. I need it more than anything. I have things I want to do and save for. I'm not being awkward to potential employers, I mean how can I be? I haven't even got to the interview stage yet, and when I do get there I will explain that I am flexible. I am willing to work till 8 at night if the needs be, but that is whilst working a day job, so even if i start work at 8 i'd be willing to work till 8.
Every application form I fill in I explain that I am flexible. I cannot get the message across any more than that! What would be the point in filling out an application form and stating that I am not flexible in anyway???!!
On another note, an abundance of jobs have cropped up working for the job centre. I applied last week but I have heard that the job centre are actually telling people who sign on to apply for these jobs ( I applied before anyone mentioned it to me at the job centre) but I wonder if they actually look at people who are claiming JSA and put them first? After all getting us off the benefits is their main aim, people who are currently in work and apply are in a better position than us currently.
Just a thought.
personally i think there there is no priority in job seeking. being on JSA dont push u up the q. your working background and suitability does.
have u joined all agancies in ur local vicinity?! wherether they specialise in what u do /want or not?! as well as the online agencies of course.0 -
Lets face it, if JSA (or whatever benefits are now in force) was not forthcoming, you would be down to the nearest bar tout suite begging for a job. Time to stop kidding yourself that you have the luxury of choice here, and widen your net a little...it may pay dividends for you yet.
take away JSA and everyone would be FORCED into work, regardless of if its bar, factory, fastfood, e.t.c...0 -
Why don't all you critics leave the poor person alone. He came on here for ADVICE not being pulled to bits. Every person has a RIGHT to choose what kind of job they want.
Eg I could never do a night or bar job because I have a daughter who needs me and my body can not cope without normal sleeping hours. Also a woman on their own working nights is more at risk of being attacked in her car or coming out of work.
The op wants a day job, I wanted that and got it after eight months of striving for a job.
You people really annoy me because you think your opinion is RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT.
u are not in OP's shoes, ur circumstances limits u working nights. OP however has only stated they like to go out and see their friends... contradicts they cant find a job, but wont do night work'.
I disagree with the woman 'more at risk' statement, but thats just me..
i wanted a day job too, but HAD to work to fund my lifestyle. dont have any dependents so night work it was. did I want to do it? NO but i needed the money.
YES OP came on here for advice and by the looks of it, they got plenty. wherether they pander to OP or not, they got advice.0 -

if that was all the agency could offer u, then try another agency, its not rocket science
The op will find the job he wants, your health is more important than working nights on a job you would not like. You can be choosy if you want to.
why is night work unhealthy?!
never settle for second best. Strive to get what you want and you can prove everyone who had a go at you wrong.
don't lost heart op you will succeed.0 -
JSA doesnt equal 'job seeking' in realistic terms. some employers may take it as 'seeking a job' other may not and just see it as a waste of time. its up to u at interview stage whether u decalre it or not and if it could be a hinderance.

for once i agree with you. JSA does not push you up the list. what would be the point in that? But employers do like to know what you have been doing in between jobs so stating that you are on JSA does kind of tell them that you are looking for work in a round about way.0 -
for the record i didnt say i didnt want to work nights because of my partying. far from it!
Im going out tonight on the lash for the first time since christmas, its a special occasion0 a 50th birthday.
But I do enjoy the odd pint or two here and there. Plus I enjoy my evenings, whether that is playing football or spending it with the missus. what I do in my spare time is up to me and it does determine whether i want to work nights or not. Out of all the people I know I could probably count on one hand the amount of people who work night shift or until 12 at night, so it is a relatively small percentage.0 -

I think what they mean is the way some people put the point over, in a way that people should do exactly the same as they do.0
