I just can't get a job!

I wasnt the one that offered the example of bar work. my beef was u stating u cant find work and reading into what u were saying about refusing nights/bars,friend/party time e.t.c then u clearly dont need the money. if u did ud take whatever hours/jobs u could to fund your 'life'.
maybe thats just me.
Firstly I would like to thanks the people who have contributed positively to this thread, its been a great help.
Still chuckley your grammar lets you down its so disappointing.
No, I need the money, please do not get me wrong. I need it more than anything. I have things I want to do and save for. I'm not being awkward to potential employers, I mean how can I be? I haven't even got to the interview stage yet, and when I do get there I will explain that I am flexible. I am willing to work till 8 at night if the needs be, but that is whilst working a day job, so even if i start work at 8 i'd be willing to work till 8.
Every application form I fill in I explain that I am flexible. I cannot get the message across any more than that! What would be the point in filling out an application form and stating that I am not flexible in anyway???!!
On another note, an abundance of jobs have cropped up working for the job centre. I applied last week but I have heard that the job centre are actually telling people who sign on to apply for these jobs ( I applied before anyone mentioned it to me at the job centre) but I wonder if they actually look at people who are claiming JSA and put them first? After all getting us off the benefits is their main aim, people who are currently in work and apply are in a better position than us currently.
Just a thought.0 -
Just a word of reassurance - there's not much out there, but there are jobs going. I finally got a job this week. Have had not one interview since being made redundant, it has been getting to me, then had one interview and got a job from it. You only need one interview if you're the right person for the job.matched betting: £879.63

Again, just because you may choose to work till 10 pm does not mean i have to!I want to work during the day, if that means 8-6 or 10-8 then so be it, i do not want to lose my nights. again..its quite simple. I do not think for one minute that i could call the shots with regards to the hours i work. I would be a fool for even contemplating about thinking about it, that is why i am applying for work that appeals to me. the regular day job.
Ah, but there's the rub, you see........
Tyrone, I want to begin by wishing you luck in your search for employment. However, I think you need to look at this from some other peoples point of view here.
Fine, you don't want to work in a bar. I can accept that. Still, many years ago, I didn't want to either, but it was a means to an end.
Benefits of any kind were always intended as a safety net, not the hammock they have become. By refusing to consider any type of work, you are rubbing a lot of people up the wrong way. Remember, the money you receive from the state is being taken from people like me, and that is money I would rather spend on my family than you (nothing personal you understand).
Lets face it, if JSA (or whatever benefits are now in force) was not forthcoming, you would be down to the nearest bar tout suite begging for a job. Time to stop kidding yourself that you have the luxury of choice here, and widen your net a little...it may pay dividends for you yet."None are more hopelessly enslaved, than those who falsely believe they are free." - Goethe0 -

I've already put my claim in for JSA.
I've been to a local learning centre, run by the council, today to have my CV brushed up, it's a free service offered to people on JSA, does your council run something similar? Ask at your Jobcentre.
Also whilst your there enquire as to what courses they run.
I'm really experienced on using MS Office packages but don't have a qualifications to prove it so have signed up to do the ECDL (most NHS jobs require this anyway). I've also put enquiries in with other colleges about brushing up my other skills. It's just a thought, but is there anything that you're good at doing but have no proof, is there a way of getting proof IYKWIM?

BTW I've not read the whole thread so sorry if I'm repeating any advice.
i am doing the ecdl too, I have done part one of the computer course, now got to enrol for part two.Mortgage Free 2016Work Part Time:DHouse Hunting In France 20230 -
Why don't all you critics leave the poor person alone. He came on here for ADVICE not being pulled to bits. Every person has a RIGHT to choose what kind of job they want.
Eg I could never do a night or bar job because I have a daughter who needs me and my body can not cope without normal sleeping hours. Also a woman on their own working nights is more at risk of being attacked in her car or coming out of work.
The op wants a day job, I wanted that and got it after eight months of striving for a job.
You people really annoy me because you think your opinion is RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT.Mortgage Free 2016Work Part Time:DHouse Hunting In France 20230 -

No one's pulling him to bits as far as I can see.
He did indeed come on here for advice, which he received plenty of. However, he made it clear that there were certain avenues he wasn't prepared to try.
I'm sorry, but refusing to consider evening work because it may affect your social life or you just don't fancy it is not going to endear you to people who are effectively bankrolling your current lifestyle."None are more hopelessly enslaved, than those who falsely believe they are free." - Goethe0 -
My current lifestyle consists of not a lot, Whilst i like to go out etc etc I have had to cut back but i just enjoy having my evenings free.
Whilst I was working there were people claiming JSA and if they are attempting to find a job then I do not mind supporting them.
I really hope that some of the people who have been negative on here do not lose their job and have to sign on. Its not a great thing to do regardless of what work you are looking for.0 -
I haven't read all of the posts but having been made redundant in November I managed to find a gap job with a temping agency. I took my CV to all of them and rang them every week to ask if they had anything. Eventually one came up with something although it was an hours drive I took it which then lead onto them recommending me to another department where I got a contract. Although it isn't doing exactly what I trained for its a wage which is better than nothing these days!
Good Luck0 -

So if an agency told you, you had to look for a job 50 miles away you would do it? At the expense of not seeing your daughter and being worse off and not being able to pay your bills. No well I told them to stuff it and said I intended to work closer to home to cut my costs and look what happened I succeeded!
The op will find the job he wants, your health is more important than working nights on a job you would not like. You can be choosy if you want to.
never settle for second best. Strive to get what you want and you can prove everyone who had a go at you wrong.
don't lost heart op you will succeed.Mortgage Free 2016Work Part Time:DHouse Hunting In France 20230 -
Hi, i was not so long ago in your shoes and its bloody hard to get out of.
I was unemployed after moving 200 miles away from my home town, it took me 2 years to find a job worth doing. But i did NOT sign on in them 2 years.
Its ok for some people to say move, look further, travel more but:-
If all that cost money, and for the first month you will be working for nothing then, and the J/C will not help all the way..Just think whats good enough for you and your needs. I know Many will not like this, but unless they have been in this problem, they will not know how hard it really is!Future goals:
Become debt free.
Beat Depression.
Be happy & healthy0
